I know I know, we have a pic thread and I already started one specifically about receiving our 5's, but my love for this knife and the bearded mastermind and craftsman behind it compelled me to start it's own thread.
I've said before that I've been anticipating this knife as my grail for quite a long time. If you guessed that all my hopes, dreams and expectations were surpassed, you are indeed correct. This knife has made all my wildest dreams come true. The GSO 5 is my grail knife.
I haven't wanted to fondle anything this bad since I met my wife back in college. The proportions are absolutely perfect almost as good as, well, did I tell you guys about when I met my wife? It feels beefy and strong, but very useable. It exudes a heft of quality, but it is definitely not too heavy, it's just right. The handle contours literally (figuratively) made love to my hand as I held it for the first time.
The blade height and overall length make it feel good for all small work but I could use a back end 3 finger grip for delimbing and light-medium chopping. Seriously for the types of things I do most or really ever do, the size of this knife is perfect. I may completely flip flop like your favorite politician when my starters come in, but until then I can't imagine anything better. All my other knives are super pissed and jealous right now... oh well...
I'll forgo the standard unboxing stuff this time. But let's take a look at the knife. Is that the work of the new engraver? So wait, not only did Guy give me a discount on my starter orders with free upgrades and shipping, he also promised some free goodies to be shipped with the knives AND that money I paid is making it possible for all these knives to have amazingly clear "HD, 1080p, 4k" engraving? Sounds good to me! And yes, I counted all the stars just to be sure.

In all her glory.
