Simple Knives

Keep it super simple! One of the worse ideas ever...

I think the OP is going after blade and handle design (minimum curves and all that) as much as he is moving parts and aesthetic add-on's.

So...a

Emerson A-100 (spear point)
Sebenza (drop point)
Chris Reeve integral (spear point)
Belgian Customs Explorer (???)
Kershaw Leek (Wharncliffe/extreme drop)
Douk-Douk (clip point)
ESEE Izula (drop point)
Case Sodbuster (drop point)

Still ain't getting it. Sounds like everything that isn't a tanto is "simple." Blade wise at least.

Just about, the ones that don't have 3 different grind patterns and/or some recurve thrown on a little blade.

Some thing like a Benchmade 710 blade kind of takes away from the simple aspect even though it's beautiful.

Wait! Are you saying some tantos are simple?!?! Now I'm even more confused! :D

I mean just blades in general. Old school traditional blades shapes/designs are simple - even a tanto.

That is one ugly looking Sebenza

Get you on the "old school"...just not sure how "old-school" applies to the assisted Leek or the hollow-handled Integral. I guess without Platypus around we are just blindly lobbing darts at his "simple" definition.

I'm with you on the Tanto-benza. That knife ain't right.

From the original list, it appears the discussion is supposed to focus on simplicity in looks, not necessarily mechanical action or quantity of parts.

A100-symmetric blade & G10 slab with no embellishment
Sebenza-the original styling is a stark beadblasted Ti scale
CRK integral-most are monochromatic fixed blades with no scales, pins, or added guards
Explorer-another symmetric knife

Bare metals, no color, no wood grain, etc.
let's not complicate simplicity :D

Some something like this wouldn't make the list, correct? :D

Black Bear Knives. Asymmetrical blades, two pieces of G-10 and a recessed locking bar and a pocket clip. ;)

That came up when i googled "simple knife" as well as this. I think we can see "simple knife" can start pretty far down the scale. The people that used these to cut, would not have thought the hacksaw blade knife was simple, I bet.

A shiv... prisoners make them all the time without any tools that are known to make knives.. lol..

Aha! Perfect! A crudely sharpened chunk of a metal prison bedframe. Can't get much simpler than that - no fancy heat treat-this, drop-point-that, just a vaguely sharp chunk of scrap steel.
