Since you first started to EDC...

I didn't get into pocket knives much at all as a kid. But since my recent interest, and having an EDC knife on me constantly, I feel naked when If forget to carry, and can't imagine a life without a trusty knife at my side. Lol.

My question is...Has there ever been a period of time where you stopped carrying for a while? For how long? And why?

For about 20 years. Because I wasn't into it as a hobby and didn't need one for work.

Nope. I've carried a knife daily since I was a kid. I was in highschool after 9/11 and had to leave my knife at home or in my car, but otherwise I've always had one on me. If I don't want to check my bag I won't fly with one, but I'll still go buy one whenever I arrive at my destination and either ship it home to myself or give it away when I leave.

The knife, the watch, my keys and my wallet. Feel naked without them. And no, I didn't forget to mention my phone. While I generally carry it everywhere, I don't feel any sense of anxiety leaving it behind or turning it off as long as I know where it is.

I was hooked when my Grandfather bought me a Cub Scout knife. I've carried at least one knife every day since I was 10.
The only time I don't have a knife on me is when the TSA makes me leave it behind. Even then I'll buy a CRKT, Kershaw, or Cold Steel knife and either mail it home or give it away before I leave.

It makes me feel weird NOT to have a knife!

Not just a knife. Phone, wallet, keys, gun, and flashlight as well.

No, edc all the days.

Never since I started edcing.
As a kid it was on and off because My older brother wasn't really responsible enough to have a knife, and I new my mom would find it unfair if I had them so I tried to limit their use and carry for fear of them being found.

once. After I got arrested for a switchblade. But I was also arrested for pot. But after that I didn't carry a knife on me for fear of going to jail again. But I'm back to my old self.

I was given a Buck 110 when I was 10 in the early 70's and have always carried a knife. Even in corporate jobs where knives were not allowed, I had a small keychain knife and later a small Opinal.

Pretty much always carried some kind of knife ever since I was a short person.

Even as a little kid I loved my ExactO knives; (even after I stuck one to the hilt in my thigh ). . .had several for model cars and stuff.

Went from this little dude right into Swiss Army Knives.

I carried a bali since high school and into college. Only recently did I discover BF and and modern style folders. I have been using bladed tools since I was a kid because both my father and mother had their own farms since before they were married.

No. I've loved knives since I was a little kid and am averse to going anywhere without one. I got called for Federal Jury Duty in January 2002 and I took my blade there with me knowing that they would take it away from me. I don't leave home without one...ever.

And I did get my knife back.

I don't see how one would be able to back once they've experienced what it's like to carry EDC gear, knives in particular. I'm 15 and have been into EDC culture for three years now, starting with a Kershaw Blur, currently EDC'ing a Spyderco Delica Ti with a homemade ano, and a Bradford Guardian 3. When I don't have my EDC, (at school for example) I feel almost helpless. A knife is such an excellent multipurpose tool (even though I carry a plethora of other stuff) that I could never see myself voluntarily giving up that versatility.

Years and years ago I stopped carrying for about 4 years while I worked for a company that would not let us carry any kind of knife at all. Most miserable 4 years of my life!!!

As a kid and teen I never carried a knife. Into my 20s and 30s only for work and those were utility knives with no real appeal. Now into my 40s I edc every single day. This started after I was browsing around a thrift/pawn shop waiting on my buddy. I picked up an old leatherman PST that was in rough shape. At that moment something clicked! I offered 5 bucks and he took it. From there things became a blur of multi tools until I stepped over to the knife side. I couldn't believe how many knives there were and how cool alot of them looked. That day I bought my first pocket knife a Kershaw Cryo! Love that knife and I haven't been able to stop buying knives since! On an average I edc 2-5 knives. Usually one in each front pants pocket a small one in my jacket breast pocket and a few in or on my pack. In the pack you'll find a multi tool, a tactical pen and a small hand ax. Oh yeah in the pack you'll also find a headlamp, a flashlight and a small high lumen lantern/charger. I always wear a watch as well mostly an analog. Now I can't imagine not having at least one blade! I am undoubtedly now and forever a knife knut!!!

I've carried a knife since I was maybe six or seven. That's been over sixty years ago.

Me too. I'm retired from the dept of corrections & we had to leave our firearms, knives, etc in our vehicles.

I started carrying a pocketknife when I was 5 YO and I've carried one ever since. That was 63 years ago. Haven't had any issues anywhere.
