I am a longtime fan of the 1911 pistol, but have lately gotten on somewhat of a single action revolver kick.

This morning I bought from a local gun shop a Ruger Bisley old style Vaquero in .44 magnum, 5-1/2" barrel, used but well cared for, with a glass smooth action, incredible trigger, and a certification letter on the action/trigger work from the late Bob Munden. I basically gave up a Busse that I have been drooling over on the sales forum to acquire this.

I know, I need pics. It has the old faux Ruger color case hardening finish on the frame which frankly looks kind of :barf:, and really nice bluing on the barrel and grip/trigger guard area which is much better than the bluing on my two-year old .44 Special Ruger. Anyway, I am as happy as a dead pig in the sunshine to have this for $699. Who would have thought this time last week that I would have a Munden action fishing/woods bumming/ feral dog/coyote/hog gun?

I have a couple 5.5" SS Accusports Ruger Bisley's in .44 and .45. also a 6" Freedom Arms .454. I had Gary Reeder put a Gun Fighter grip on the .454.

I shoot a ruger new model blackhawk in 45 LC regularly, I love the gun. I am not a huge fan of single actions, but this one just shoots wonderfully for me....and its a ruger, so I can shoot the hotloads out of it...like the hornady lever loads....

I've got a New Vaquero Montada 3.75 barrel, wide spur sass hammer, nickel finish in 357 mag for $740. I still haven't shot it yet though. It was a special order. I also have a set of 1851 Navys with leather pants and CS belt.

The Montados are sweet. I have a pair of them that I bought for mounted shooting and they work great. They work much better than I do when it comes to shooting off a running horse.

I do have a few single actions made by Cimarron and their stuff is really nice as well.

I love my single actions! I have a couple Vaqueros and a Blackhawk for my big calibers and a Single Six and two Bearcats in 22caliber.

I love the rugers I've got 2 5 1/2 stainless 44/40s with bisley gripframs and hammers, 2 5 1/2 stainless in 45 that I use for mounted shooting, 2 4 3/4 stainless with birdshead grip frames in 45, and my daughters have 2 each 4 3/4 blackhawks in 357. I also have 2 consecutive serial numbered 1875 remingtons in 44/40. All have been given race jobs and belt mountain base pins, and free spin pawl modifications. I've competed with the ruger 44/40s for 10 years, those and my 1873 winchester in 44/40 are my most used guns. I've fired so many rounds through the rugers that they are just extensions of my hands any more just point and I know where the bullet is going.

My first mounted shooting contest that I rode in I used a pair of 7 inch ruger 45s, I could almost hit the balloons with the barrels when I rode past. Real pain in the butt to reholster those at a run.

I really need to get a big bore SA. I have had a couple single sixes and really liked them.

I have never really gotten into revolvers but I am a big fan of the Ruger Vaquero. They just feel good in the hand.

Hey Garth, let me know if you or anyone you may know might want my NVM. I love the gun but, honestly since I have the Navys I wanted to sell or trade it for some INFI! I'm in the Downriver Detroit area.

The AccuSport 5 1/2 Stainless Bisleys are just about the perfect 'all around' single action field revolver for the $$ IMHO...there are several custom shops (Bowen, Clements) that have made a pretty good business out of building similar guns for multiple times the cost (not saying their talents aren't worth it tho...they are masters and its $$ well spent if you can afford it). Portable but with enough barrel to be effective out a little ways (if you're up to the task), bank vault strong, the beauty of the Bisley grip, and relatively inexpensive. Tough to beat.

If its got a genuine Munden action on it, you done good. Just checked up on him, noted his passing a few months ago...so there will be no more.

Got a couple more at Jack Huntington's shop (one almost done and another in line for an octagon barrel/.480 Ruger 5-shot conversion), a couple more in the safe and a few I let go without taking pictures of. I'll try and remember to post pics when I get the customs back.

I like single actions.
