Having received my case slimline, im somewhat disappointed. One, i had already bought one and forgot about it, but now I have two single bladed trappers that have a very slim almost fragile looking blades. Who make a single blade trapper that has a stockier blade? Thanks!

I'm also not a fan of long slender blades on traditionals, like a full size toothpick. Just feels flinmsy...

The GEC 23 and 73 are trapper patterns. Both are available in single blade configurations.

Here's my 48 (when it was new). Love it, feels very solid to me.

Bonus: A pinchable clip-point blade!

Case also makes regular sized (4 1/8") single blade trappers, and also some mini (3 1/2") trappers with single blades. They can be tough to find however, and usually seem to be limited runs/SFOs. Some of these look like hidden gems and I'm having a hard time not pulling the trigger on 'em.

Jim Dunlap's back pocket trapper has a sturdy blade but it's still thin enough to be an excellent slicer.

The GEC 48 is outstanding. I have a single in stag and a double in Ebony and use them both heavily.

As is the GEC #42 (my personal favorite with two-blades).

If you like the long slim kind of traditional, take a look at the GEC #65 Ben Hogan.

i think im sold on the GEC 48, its tough spending 125 or so on a traditional with knives ship free, theres also a couple of canal street half moons im looking at on ebay atm

The GEC #48 is available in 3 blade profiles. The newest release has the big clip profile like tstaut's ebony one. The Nortwoods Hawthorn Clip and Scagel Fruitport Clip have the same profile but different grinds. There's also a narrower clip blade that was also made in 440C. If you want a wharncliffe version then you need to look for a Hawthorn or Fruitport wharncliffe one. Pretty much all the single blade GEC #48s are sold out except for a handful of stags.

The GEC #73 like kamagong's is a heavy trapper roughly the same length as the #48. The #23 is the much larger one at 4 1/2" closed.

Canal Street's HMTs are similar in size to the #48 but available with, 14-4 CrMo stainless, Latrobe's version of 154CM .

One not mentioned yet is Queen's #11 Utility although it probably feels close to the Case in hand but with D2 steel and I believe thicker blade stock.

Since I have the pics, here are some variations on GEC's #48 pattern

GEC #48 Slim 1095

GEC #48 Slim 440C

GEC #48 Big Clip 1095

Northwoods Hawthorne

Scagel Fruitport clip (never snagged a wharncliffe version :()

The GEC 48 pattern is the best one I've seen & do like the larger blade, but I've carried Case slimline trappers for many years and the slim blades are definitely not fragile.
