Single Blade Trappers

I really like the Canal Street Half Moon

Ooohhhh - very nice! The half moon trapper is at the top of my want list - especially for the reclaimed American Chestnut they are offering now.

If I may ask - how is the pull on this knife? I am hoping it has an easier pull than the couple GEC's I now have (#12 toothpick & #15 Charlow).

Canal Street Cutlery....

Single Blade Trapper
Reclaimed American Chestnut Handles
Flat Ground Blade 14-4CrMo or 440C Steel
Polished Mark Side Blade Finish
Highly Polished Bolsters

Oh - there it is! Man that is beautiful?

I must ask the same question as my above post - how is the pull on this knife compared to the GEC's?

I've found the pull to be very easy on my Case Slimline Trapper. Probably something to do with the leverage.

Here it so nestled beside a Saddlehorn.

coaltrain,
The pull is light and I would rate it about a 4 out of 10.
I was at the CSC factory yesterday and we spoke about the light pull. Their newly made knives have stronger springs to allow for a heavier pull. Not a nail breaker but heavier than the old stock.

Thanks for the info! I just love their handle wood and the design of the knife. I'm not afraid to try one now.

Excellent! The snakewood does have a special place based upon who you got it from.
Thank you. I've used most of the HMTs except the 2 new ones, the 2 GECs with patinas and each of the Queen Utilities. I'd say the Sunset Smooth bone HMT, first pic second from the right is my favorite. It was the one that introduced me to the pattern when I first started getting interested in traditional knives (It was in my 2nd order making it my 2nd or 3rd traditional knife... .) After that, it would probably be the burnt stag GEC #48 followed by the Snakewood #48 for its story. I had gotten interested in traditional knives around the time the GECs were introduced. By the time I decided to get one, the snakewoods were gone. I emailed GEC asking if they had anymore or knew of dealers who still had them. Ryan Daniels replied and offered to sell me his. I used it a little bit but should use it a bit more...

Jeff,
That is a beauty! You really have some super nice knives.
Here you go, Randy. I believe it is sambar stag, nearly a perfect match of both covers.

How old is that fella? I like your name on the blade. Cool knife but I must warn you......a traditional Case with a thumb stud and liner lock IS pushing the envelope!!! :D
Hello, I am new to the Forums, but I personally like the Case Trapperlock 3154L CV I use as my every day carry. I like it's traditional Trapper pattern, but it's one handed opening via thumb stud was also a plus. However it may not get much love here being a liner lock. Let me know what you think guys. I hope i don't offend anyone here in the traditional section with this, but you can't get more traditional than a W. R. Case.

Boy do I love this Queen. Anywhere from 58-81 years old, I really need to get a better picture, this one is dark and fuzzy.

Cheers,
Connor

That's a knife I admire, fabulous bone on it. Please find me one like it or better:D:thumbup:

Thanks, Will

LOL, I've had it since 2011 as my everyday carry knife. Yeah, it doesn't really fit in with true traditionals, but for everyday use I like the looks, with the modern ease of use. I was just playing around with fingernail polish, saltwater, and electricity and kinda winged the etching haha. Love this knife tho.
