single shot survival

LOL, That is what my GF's family teased me about all night after I killed it 'cause it was at their ranch. I wanted to kill another one and make some house slippers, but I was asked to just get rid of the poor skunk already cause the smell filled up the entire house :o!!!

Yeah, you really only want to attack them with a flashlight and gently encourage them to leave the property :D

You guys got me looking around on the web and I found this:

http://www.mossberg.com/JIC.htm

Now THAT'S what I call a survival kit! ;)
I applaud Mossberg on the concept and marketing but a 12ga. with only a pistol grip is real special use item. Not my choice for a survival or "utility" firearm but YMMV.

FWIW: My woodsloafing longun is an ancient Mossberg 185D 20 gauge bolt gun. Only a small step up from a single shot, and a step backwards from the higher end specialty singles. With a buttstock shell holder it does the job for me.

People used to only have one shot and it loaded from the muzzle. Single shots are fine and they are fast and easy to reload. I have never felt handicapped whether i had a single or double barrel muzzleloader a single shot rifle/shotgun or one of my pumps or auto loaders or any of my handguns (revolvers/auto loaders, cap and ball). Any type of firearm is a real asset to any one lost or otherwise just camping in the woods. Many times i have reached for a single shot when hunting or camping.
