Anyone want a Springfield Armory coupon code for 10 bucks? Good thru the 30th. First "I'll take it" from a 'Head gets it.

JT its a powerful anti oxidant so in theory it should help make the lip balm even more effective.

I can't tell if you're serious or just jerking my chain :p

I'm pretty sure acai berries make people buy iPhones.

If I start talking about buying one any time soon, you'll know that's true... because I've definitely had no desire to buy one so far.

Yeahhhh... I'm not sure it works the same way on steel. Maybe; I never really thought about it before.

So acai berries may or may not help promote weight loss... If it does... Thats not a good thing for a knife... Oxidation helps promote weight loss on a knife as well. So one can assume acai berry = oxidation :p

Well, my theory was true. Doc said I had early stages of pneumonia. This shit happens every year about this time. He gave me a powerful antibiotic. Hopefully, nip it in the bud and get it cleared by this weekend. Im not missing the gathering.

On a side note. I got my new grinder today. Things freakin awesome. Took me about a hour to put it together. Still haven't ran it though. Its got the wrong plug on it. :grumpy: pics later.

Yay, science!!

Wait... whut?

Get well Todd! And congrats on the new grinder.

James science is my thing.... Im a scientichian :D

Ok... SO someone wants to buy my last set of grow lights and grow light fixture.... That could put a little money in my pocket to get some more stuff for making knives, but at the same time id have to get some form of shop light down there.. There are a few regular house bulbs scattered on the roof down there but it still stays kind of dark being in the basement. And i have grown fond of the well lit area while working.

To make it worth it for me to sell to them id need to be able to light my small area up pretty well for 50 bucks or less. Id be selling the setup for around 150, i payed more than double that years ago and everything still looks new and i have extra bulbs and all. But if it would cost me 100 bucks to light that area up i wouldnt even bother taking my stuff down to get 50 bucks when the lights i have now not only light everything up but could be used to grow veggies later on as well.

SO any suggestions on good, cheap, bright shop lights??

measuring gas flux out of a frickin' volcano right NOW with a kitchen pitcher. awesome. :-)

They got'em down at the unicorn store. :D

Seriously though, when ever you put "good" and "cheap" together, you get crap. If you're happy with the lighting you have in the basement now, you will be perpetually disappointed with any lesser light configuration you come up with UNLESS you end up spending way more than you will get from selling what you have now.

Kinda like a fighter/bomber. The characteristics that make a fighter good at fighting other aircraft makes it a poor bomber, and vice versa. A fighter/bomber sounds good on paper to pencil pushers and politicians, but it gets the worst of both worlds.

Slower than a real fighter, overpowered for the performance results, unable to carry a big enough bomb load to make a real difference, drinks fuel like a camel at an oasis, Inadequate AA missile hard-points. So what do they do?? Throw more money to the plane manufacturers to get them to "improve" the POS they came up with in the first place trying to keep everyone happy. Like the joint-service fighter they were pushing a few years back. All services would use the same plane. Oops, the undercarriage that met Navy CV catapult launch/ arresting gear landing requirements put more weight on the plane than the AF was willing to accept. More differences..... ended up with 2 completely different airplanes. So much for joint. More like they were using joints while designing it.

ZZ Are we still talking lights?? :D

The lights i have now are full spectrum grow lights, i dont need that all just to be able to see what im working on, thats why im considering it. I just need to be able to see well while working. I doubt most people have bright grow lights as shop lights LOL. Im wondering what most people use as lighting in their shops?

Old school "science" meets new school true science - all in one thread.

Sadly the "science" makes more sense to me.

How the heck do you measure gas flux out of a volcano with a kitchen pitcher?
I lost the link. Anybody got it?

WW - IMO, personally I prefer as much light as possible.

The brighter the better. Fewer mistakes. Fewer accidents. Easier to see gray pencil lines on whatever is being modified.

My home workshop is 24' x 32'. I installed 6 sets of 4 bulb 8-ft florescent lights. I also have a 5 portable workstation floodlights for use where needed - drill press, 6" grinder, chop saw, band saw, scroll saw, leather working table. they are used to reduce shadows at the work point. I have screwed up more than one piece of work material by following a shadow line rather than my pencil mark.

I also have an 16-ft wide roll-up shop door to the south for ventilation and additional (read free) light during the day.

There is no such thing as TOO MUCH light.
