Sitting around the fire pit knife.

Just thought I'd post an update. Had a lot of fun looking at the wonderful selections posted here and researching all the different knife makers. I must say it was quite an enlightening experience to see how many talented craftsmen are on this site. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted suggestions in this thread. I learned a lot and pulled the trigger on a knife tonight from one of the custom makers that was posted here. Once it lands I will post some pics. It was just to good of a deal to pass up. And a special thanks to NJBillK who helped me navigate this wonderful maze. Bob

Ain't this site great? Bunch of enabling basdids we may be!

No problem Bob! I hope your new knife works hard for you.

If you went through either of the two Knifemakers I offered, I hope that you found my descriptions to be accurate.

Accurate, enlightening, and spot on. Looking forward to using it.

Knife arrived from Croatia. Custom made by Dalibor AKA Daado on the forum. Forged from ball bearings and heated treated as 52100; canvas Micarta scales. Fit & finish is impeccable. Fits my hand like a custom made glove. Absolutely beautifully made my photo skills do not do it justice.

Very nice knife Bugs. I am glad you are happy with it. I have almost pulled the trigger and purchased a few of his knives myself.

Well done, Bugs!

As if kicking back around the fire isn't enjoyable enough, now you have an accent piece.

The knifemaker's exchange section is a virtual treasure trove.

Fantastic piece my friend! I hope it works well for you!

I love his work and I am always keeping my eyes peeled for a skinner of his.

I have one of the Doug Ritter RSK Mk2 Perseverance (Knifeworks Exclusive) or the BK12, and love it. Wouldnt be good for whittling, but sure is an awesome blade

I just picked up this Condor Hudson Bay for an event where I grill a lot of rib steaks.
I built the fire, processed about 25lb of whole rib steaks, grilled them and used the Condor to slice it all up.
Afterward I cut up some skewers from green branches and put some choice bits over the fire, sprinkled on some celtic sea salt...heaven.
The knife shipped was less than 50 bucks, comes with a good quality leather sheath and is simple to get shaving sharp.
It will reside in my kitchen between field trips.
Winner in my book.

Finally it's cooling down enough in SW FL to have a fire at night. Had a small fire after work Friday night and got to put my Dalibor knife to good use. Used it to get wood shavings to start the fire, and split some small wood for kindling. Popped open a Cigar City Brewing Jai Alai beer and whittled a stick. Of course the wife made fun of me for whittling a stick but it's all in good fun; I'll get even later. Nice blade, was still shaving sharp after use. Really looking forward to some cooler weather. We had a brutally hot summer this year.
