SK 4.7 Cruforge V Sample vs 4.1 M390 - Real world test

The timing of this is too perfect. I am about to place an order for the GSO 4.7 Cruforge V and was deciding between the 2 handle choices (brown vs. black) and I too am partially colorblind. I like the one in the sample picture:

To somebody that is not color-challenged, is the one in the sample picture brown, black or neither? Is it different or the same as Hale Storm's pic?

Tell me your doing a chocolate brown sheath for it! There was an esee 6 that had custom od green scales and a chocolate sheath, I loved the look!

That pic is the special edition OD green that went out to the lucky 30ish surprise testers.

Green looks really good especially because it is exclusive, but my favorite is a black handle with that coated blade. I need one of these cruforge in my life!


Someday I'm going to have one just like this.

Sorry to have to ask again, is the one in your pic green or black? Am I right to assume all the cerakoted blades Will be this brown color?

Same here! I like both handle colors though. I may need both.

Not a problem, I should have come out and said it. The one in the pic I posted is black. As far as I know all of the cruforge blades are the same brown color. I think FDE is what it's called. Although between different lighting and backgrounds the same color can look pretty different in pics!

It helps a ton, thank you so much. I just put in an order, black is all gone, brown was all they had left.

Thanks, you're right, lighting can make a huge difference. I can distinguish a difference between the colors in large pictures and form a preference, but then I eventually need to know the name of color to bring to the ordering page. The little color swatch pic on their website to the left of the color name is too small for me to make any sense of. In the end, I took too long and black is sold out so brown it is. Nonetheless, I can't wait for it to get here! Thanks for all your help.
 
chchin2, I am also colorblind and trying to discern "shades" of various natural colors on the computer screen terrorizes my soul at night... especially on other knives that don't have removable handles....

Okay. Supposed to head out to the woods today and it rained all day. I'm going next weekend no matter what.

My youngest son recently asked me for some survival training and primitive camping. PERFECT timing to test the new 4.7 against the other blades.

FDE it is. I needed some new custom pants for it anyway so here is the beginning. FDE kydex to match the blade. I'll add an OD fire steel loop to match the handle color and add some contrast like the knife, and a custom drop loop. I have a custom antler fire steel too that will look really good on this size knife.

Thanks Silver.

For me. it's just more comfortable hanging lower. Much easier in the woods and around camp. Sitting, kneeling, stooping, climbing, etc.
