SK 4.7 Cruforge V Sample vs 4.1 M390 - Real world test

I love 3v but sadly, it will rust in minutes down here in my humid climate. I have learned through experience I need to stick to stainless steels or coated carbons. otherwise, I spend way to much time working on rust prevention and worrying about rust.

Hmmm. Question. Is it possible to coat 3V? I don't believe I've seen it done but I could be wrong. Someone educate me please.

Maybe..but might not be as bad as you think

Update. I didn't get all the testing in that I wanted to so that will continue but here are some new pics and a blurb or two about the new SK-4.7 in CruForge V steel.

It came hair shaving sharp from Survive!Knives. That is pretty much a given from Guy at this point.

We had some more flooding down here and damage to the pier at the lake. I used the SK-4.7 to "modify" some posts that we were working on. I also used it on some small bass I caught for my dinner. I cleaned the fish AFTER I had batoned and pryed on a few waterlogged logs. It wouldn't shave hair afterwards but was extremely sharp and cut through the fish easily, bones, scales and all.
Needless to say, I'm impressed so far.

Later, I used the 4.7 to baton quite a few pieces of kindling for a small fire to cook the fish. Sorry I didn't get more pics but will definitely get more in the next week or two since I'm headed to the woods for sure. I'll also figure out how to post a couple videos I took.
I actually used the thumb jimping on the spine to strike my fire steel and the sparks were adequate to set my tinder bundle ablaze. Worked perfectly here.

Nice pics Halestorm, looks like the cruforge v was kicking some bass! [sorry about that, couldn't resist]

Hale,

How was the grip with the fish slime on your wet hands?

I'm presuming no micro texturing on the grips.

Man those bass look good sitting there in that icy cooler. Looks like the cruforge can take a whipping, look at that baton!

It was fine. No micro texturing. Stock micarta scales. The new contour that Guy has put in the handle helps as well. That knife just "fits" if that makes any sense. And the palm swell is perfect.

Can someone tell me how to load some videos? I juts got them out of my phone and on to my laptop.

I think that you will need to upload videos first on a video serving service like YouTube, if you have an account because you need to provide a link which you are unable to do from your own laptop.

Here's where I started. Just a quick demo of how sharp that CruForge V can get. Guy is the man when it comes to sharp out of the box.

I'm able to get the videos at least on the post for now. Enjoy. Sorry I'm not better at this part. Also, I'm no videographer. These were shot live with no rehearsal and no script. Just me and a couple family members off the cuff. I do need to talk to my brother about cutting the videos so short.

The link takes me to youtube, but then says it is a private video. All I've ever done on youtube is watch stuff, but I'm wondering if there's a setting you have to change.

In 1969 we put a man on the moon. In the 80's we built a reusable spacecraft. How frickin' hard is it to create the technology to just copy a video and paste it like a picture?

Silver, let me work on it. It should be public.

It says it's public. I'll need to get an expert in here (one if my kids). LOL

Great Thread.

You did it! Both links are working now. I think you're ready for NASA ;)

Sweet! I've already started building my own space shuttle in my garage with a GSO 4.1, a roll of duct tape, and some bailing wire.
