SK Barehead 501

Got mine ten minutes ago, my initial impressions are looks good and sharp, blade sits a little off center but not in a way that bothers me. No issues so far in my ten minutes of looking/fondling while on a call for work.
 
I am not a sheath or loose pocket carry guy at all. Need my one hand pocket clip knives. But I see this one in my lineup everyday and some days it makes it into my pocket?!
 
should be here today. per usps tracking. really looking forward to it........cant wait to see the burlap in person.
 
I was going to use it as a car knife. I generally don't carry traditional styled knives but I do like them.

I have an Infiniti coupe so this seems thematically more on point than say a 110 variant. Or maybe I am a crazy person.

That brown burlap should go with most any color:p:D The barehead styling should compliment the curvey lines of your coupe. Preston

pretty darn good example. no blade play in any direction. blade is lined up about perfect. tight and good fit and finish. plus that burlap, just wow. pics dont do it justice........
 
Agreed on the pics. Finally got home and got mine open. A very nice example. Good grind, good centering, no play. I don’t have a camera to capture such beauty appropriately :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
 
I got mine today, and overall I am very impressed! I had to clean off some black gunk (buffing compound) from inside the well and on the blade, but finish is very good and the blade is centered and came quite sharp. Mine came with a slight recurve that I fixed by adding a sharpening notch. I thought the covers were going to be rounded but they are actually quite flat, which I much prefer for pocket carry:thumbsup:
I might have to get another one!
 
I received mine yesterday. It is a beauty.

However, mine is not centered, but it is not rubbing the liner. The big issue that I have is that it grinds on opening and closing. I am guessing that there is a burr on the lock bar. A groove is showing on the tang. It really pisses me off because this keeps happening on nearly every Buck that I buy. I am very tired of sending in knives to Buck.

Additionally, the blade grind is messed up-assymetrical and they seem to have lost control when they got to the point.

Well that sucks. That aside, even though I don’t usually carry smaller knives, I had to order this one. It’s just too nice looking. Hope I get a good one.

Hmm, looking at the site it says preorder, but I see some of you have them already. Is the preorder a mistake or have they already sold out and the preorder is for a second run?

I am sorry to have missed out on this run if they are sold out. Maybe he will do another SFO based on the 501. I really like that model.

They are still available. Just bought one yesterday. He just never took down the preorder verbiage on the site. I believe he has fixed it now.
