Skeletonized Tang in 3V?

And how many tens of thousands of them are out there? It’s an extraordinarily popular knife. If you have searched and found “a few“ that broke out of all that have been built, that’s a pretty exceptional success rate.
It’s hard to believe because it’s nonsense.

A broken BK2 falls into the same category as the unreliable Toyotas, drinkable Mezcal, and sane redheads. They can be found, but they are exceedingly rare, and you’ve got to search very hard.
Yeah, tens of thousands of such a best-selling knife must be breaking, what I said must be true, you are right. Everyone buys their knives to force them anyway. So you're right, it's not a big deal that a few people who "really" pushed their knife broke it.That's what it is. Even if something happens, the problem is with the users, they are doing something they shouldn't do with a knife, right?

It is a really nice and practical knife- not a pry bar. Use it as such and put that bad boy to work. Lionsteel certainly would not risk their reputation putting out an inferior product. Great looking knife.

What’s the fun in that ? :)

OP: many cherish the skeletonization, for weight loss and balance. There are good alternatives at similar price with solid tang, like a Ratmandu.

I also believe that to be a non-issue.
However, there are manufacturers removing much more material than that and some have broken. Poorly thought out material removal will do that. There are pictures on this site I believe...

Or, instead of sending it to that jack off, he could save the $50-$70 international shipping and just bang it against a Schedule 40 pipe and stab a car door, himself.

It won't tell him anything about the actual performance of the knife. But hey, at least he'll have a broken knife. View attachment 2321696

My point in bringing up that guy is a bit tongue in cheek... if you're intending to abuse a knife to the point you're worried it will break, you're probably going to break it eventually. Different kind of mindset to how I view knives but different strokes for different folks I guess. I'm content over here with a 15V folder in my pocket.

On another note, I've also done a fair bit of backpacking and hiking in reasonably deep wilderness and never worried about a knife breaking during "survival" situations, but again the views on this vary wildly. I'd rather invest in something like a Garmin InReach (and I do carry one in the wilderness) to get help on the way, personally, but that kind of thing is rarely taken seriously in this kind of internet discussion.

I think you read his post wrong. He never incurred it was the user doing something wrong, it was that many Bk2's have survived plenty well even after abusing the heck out of it. A few have broke, many haven't. Could've easily been a cause for a void in the steel, which causes even solid tang knives to fail. Or maybe there was a stress crack.

Point being, with how many are out there, there's bound to be a few that failed by pure chance and statistical anomalies, not because it's a bad or unreliable design.

I'm not sure what you did to break yours, but there's a really good chance someone did worse and the knife held up just fine. And more than once. Sucks your knife broke, but that's highly unlikely to be the norm or even statistically significant.

Love map and compass. Wife and I practice it any chance we’re in the woods. It’s a very useful skill that can keep your ass from getting lost in the sticks. Smart phones and GPS have made people lazy in learning it.

I don’t want anything to do with your “love map.” 😱🤪

In 40 years or more of carrying knives I’ve never broken one. I honestly don’t understand what folks are doing to achieve this. No offense intended, I just can’t wrap my head around it. I just use mine for cutting stuff though. So, if it’s things like (insert YouTube “knife expert”) do on their “testing” videos, then I tend to side with the right tool for the job side of things. Freak events and lemons are bound to happen to all brands, so I don’t put a lot of stock in those things, until it becomes something frequently occurring. Just my $.02.
