Sketchen Scales Customs

Ouch! Hope you heal quickly man.

Got my scales from you a few days ago, and today my Southard arrived finally and I gotta say I am completely blown away. My benchmade is going to face some serious jealousy issues here for pocket time!

The clip is from blue4you2010 on ebay, another service provider I highly recommend. Thanks again Steve! Wonderful doing business!

Thanks guys. I recieved the knife second hand and it had been disassembled and had the lockbar sharpied by the previous owner which could have caused the lockup issue. Because of that I'm not going to throw the company or model under the bus. Great guy too, he had no idea and bought the knife back without hesitation.

I was inspecting it for sale, testing lockup by applying moderate closing force to the open blade, hands completely clear as always. When the lock failed unexpectedly, the knife jerked, hand slipped off the blade and left fingertip slid across the edge. Not even sure how the right hand got cut, all of a sudden blood was everywhere and curse words were falling out of my mouth.

I may modify my testing technique...

Yeowch! Maybe use some kind of free hanging weight for that in the future? Maybe measure a moderate force on like a hanging scale(like for weighing fish) and then tie an appropriate weight to a bit of rope wrapped in a cloth before hanging it on the spine of the blade while it's in a padded vice to test this.

Anyway, sorry to hear about the bad luck. The locations especially are pretty heinous. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

I hope it heals quick and well Steve. At the very least rest up and enjoy the extra time on your hands brotha.

Thanks guys, should be healed soon enough. Extra time with the kids at least.
Kragg great pictures of that southard, enjoy!

Tkdiver I don't work with cf but I'm sure someone on BF can help you with that. Thanks for the interest.

Hi.

Can you do something like blue large honeycomb or blue dyed MOP for a Spyderco Manix 2 XL? Would I have to send the knife in?

Thanks, and hope your hand heals soon.

Steve's work is just impeccable! Here's some more shots of his recent polished black Ctek and desert ironwood scales for my Southards. The fit and finish, plus the attention to detail and great customer interactions, could not possibly be any better, his work is THAT GREAT!! Cheers, Paul

Brous silent soldier with wildebeest horn. These turned out great in the end, but I will likely not be using the material again.
