Skookum Bush Tool

There is no way though that I would rather have a knife without any form of guard Vs. a knife with some form of guard! When I say "guard" I mean even some handle formation that would prevent the user's hand to slip on the blade.

No question about it, anyone more comfortable with a guard should be able to find an equivalent knife with one. Many Scandinavian knives have at least a slight guard or a finger indent, like an index finger choil, some fairly pronounced. These certainly don't interfere with a multipurpose grip.

If you really, really want a guarded scandi & can't find one to that strikes your fancy...
You can always buy a blade and build your own.

I was really asking if there is a knife out there like the Garcia which headlines this thread, except with a small guard.

There are Scandinavian knives with guards, some with handles providing a 'speed bump', and some with index finger indents. Check out www.ragweedforge.com specifically for Brusletto, Helle, and EKA.

There are many more. These three brands seemed to have the most varied selection.

Looks good!
Betcha can't stop at one ;)

Has anyone considered asking Rod about adding a guard?

Ebbtide, Walkabout hats off to you both gentlemen:thumbup:! These knives are so beautiful! Do you know if there is any tutorial about making modifications like this?

Hey Guys...

" like a Buck 110, and you'll wind up sleeping with someone's sister if that's what your price is. Good knives are often hard to find and quite prized."
