looking for a good beanie/skull cap/bogon... was thing mountain hardwear with wind stopper any commments concerns suggestions?

I have a windstopper skullcap which I've been using regularly for 10 or 15 years. I'm very happy with it.

Good topic and makes me want to start a thread on lids ... I like wearing caps although they sometimes limit my vision especially up ... beannies make my head itch ... bandannas wont sit on my head ... dont really like broad brimmed hats unless its raining ... skull cap - never tried one.
I sure as eggs dont like crawlies in my hair though.

I am wearing a mountain Hardward beanie style hat. It is fleece and a little over sized. This allows me to wear it off my ears or on my ears as I choose - plus it looks fine in an office setting when coming in from the cold.

Ha!! Has anyone ever washed and dried a GI issue watchcap?? hehe they turn into a wool yamika.

I have so many its nuts. Freebies from life flight services, and ambulance manufacturers, quicksilver ones, hurley ones, a north face one, Gi issue ones, I also have a smartwool one(very nice), but my current favorite is one I picked up for 5 bucks at a farm and home store in my ambulance district one day when I forgot mine when I was at work. Go figure. hehe

Yeah I learned that the hard way in boot camp. You shouldve seen me tryin to squeeze that thing on my head before PT. It was a sight. lol!!

+1 for the wool military watch caps! I just received a couple that I ordered earlier this week from this place....

These caps are inexpensive and last forever. Unfortunately my last one that I purchased a little over a year ago turned into a chew toy for my puppy when I wasn't looking. This prompted me to buy a spare, just in case.:D

I went, I saw, I bought, I'm broke...thanks a lot!!!

All I ever wore was military-issue watchcaps for years. I somehow ended up buying a Mountain Hardware hat and it is FAR warmer than the basic wool cap.

Being folliclely challenged caps at all times of year are important for me. My warmest is a wool NorthFace beanie my wife bought me.

I have their Dom Perignon with windstopper and it is a great cold weather hat - little to no wind penetration. It does reduce hearing significantly, given it's characteristics. Their beenies would be good, and not look so monty pythonish :)

I know the new "foliage" color is quite odd (I really prefer the coyote brown instead), but since the black fleece watch caps are no longer authorized for Army use (phased out), there should be plenty on the surplus market. I've really grown to love the simple fleece watch caps (most of mine are made by Polartec). They are light, dry fast, can be rolled up just over the ears for better hearing, and can be pulled down onto the neck for better coverage. Since I have so many, I don't have a need to try something else, but for me, they work great. I use them for PT (the fugly foliage green color), I have a few black ones in my field pack and backpacking/hiking packs. They take up no room add no negligible weight and make a tremendous difference at night to keep you body heat in!
