It's a mans-mans sheath ! Haha

Considering that the blades are carried on my person or attached to my pack anyways I don't thing that built properly & with a leather shoulder strap so it would ride on my side down by my hip...don't think it would be too heavy !!

I'm betting that would come in around 5-6 pounds. I sure as heck wouldn't be carrying it all day :D

I will give you the weight idea.

A leather scout carry sheath for the bk 2 will weight 1,2 Lbs
A sheath for the king will go on the same weight 1,2 Lbs
Each knive also weight 1 Lb each
The pouch will weight 0,8 Lb
The belt and all the d rings snap will go for 0,8lb
The contents of the thin will go on 0,2 lb
Now math 1,2+1,2+1+1+0,8+0,8+0,2=6,2 lbs probably more, very probably

OK here is what I came up with…

It would look like a regular sheath with a firesteel loop but on the back is where the fun would happen.

It would have a detachable piece of leather (held to the main sheath with 3-4 snaps. Pic shows with 3 snaps). The detachable piece would either be (1/2-3/4) the length of the sheath to include a leather strop with compound, glued to it, as indicated in pic C. The top piece on the back of the sheath, just below where the belt loop is (on the actual sheath not the detached piece), would have indents and a smaller piece of leather where cordage (paracord, snare wire, etc.) could be wrapped around it as indicated in pic B.

Or

The detachable piece could be one solid piece including the strop and the smaller indented piece for the cordage as indicated in pic D. It could be removable so you have the option to bring it or leave it. If not using it maybe there could be 2 small pieces of leather with snaps connected to cover the exposed snaps on the sheath itself. Maybe the detachable piece could be made of a thinner piece of leather than the actual sheath to help make sure it’s not too thick.

Sorry but I'm not concerned w/ the weight if it gets the job done. With that sheath I wouldn't have to have such a large pack...if any at all

Never thought of adding a strop to a sheath before. Pretty neat idea, I need to think about that some.

So, I have a second idea also... I think I can give more than one idea right?

It's a ccw carry option. Have a pistol in the front, and a bk-14/16 in the back.

I'd always pull the wrong one in any given situation.

I can hear it now. Don't ask to borrow a knife from Sky, last time I did he pulled a .44 on me......

"He tried cutting his paracord with a .44 then he tried shooting a bear with his remora... I don't know WHAT he is thinking!"

I'm not much of a drawer but I had this in my head for a bit and thought i would enter it in your contest... diagonal shoulder carry system or wear as a utility belt with removable pouches and a removable sheath for a bk9. handle would be downward and blade would be pointing at shoulder. On leather strap behind sheath would have a snap pocket to stash some cash sewn with in strap and sheath would be removable so you can flip it and wear other way or just wanna carry on your back. and some straps to accept a maxpedition gear or any molle gear system accessories. nylon strap would be adjustable on one side and sewn into leather and clips together with giant clips like on the maxpedition JANUS Extension Pocket for the stika bag.

OK, here goes take 2 on the dual sheath for the BK4 and the BK15.

As a reminder, here is the general concept, almost like an X-ray view, showing the overall shape of the sheath. Note the sexy curvature. :-)

1 - overall.jpg

This configuration will require 3 main pieces of leather. First is the rear, which will hold the BK15 in place:

2 - rear.jpg

Then, on top of that, will go the BK15:

3 - with BK15.jpg

Then is the largest piece of leather, the main structure of the sheath:

4 - with main center.jpg

Note that there is a slot cut into the center. You'll see why in a bit. :-)
Also, the top is not detailed (ran out of paper), but it will have a dangler D-ring attached to it, along with a belt loop to wear on the right hip. Note that the BK 15 will ride "forward" a bit, or toward the navel, whereas the BK4 will ride on the outermost part of the hip.

This shot shows the BK4 in place:

5 - with Bk4.jpg

More pics to follow in the next post.

This shot shows the covering of the BK4:

6 - with BK4 covering.jpg

This is configured in the same way as Sky's normal Machax sheath, where it is sewn on to the rear strap at the blade side of the Machax, and open toward the top of the spine side. The hole in the center piece of leather is to acccomodate the retention strap, shown here:

7 - with retention strap.jpg

So that's it! As much detail as this non-leatherworker can muster, minus the top Dangler assembly which I'd expect to be about the same as your other dangler sheaths.

Thanks for the chance, Skystorm! I assure you this sheath would serve me very well.....

I do like the idea of a dual carry sheath, I have been thinking of one for the 5 and 15, The problem with this is I think the hump for the 15 handle is going to cause issues with getting the 4 in and out other than that I like it! I have to think on this one some.

I hear you. Keep in mind that there will be a bit of a bend down the middle of the sheath between the 2 knives, so the 15 will ride more behind the 4's path. The idea is that the 4 will ride exactly at the side, with the 15 a bit in front of the 4. If you bend the front piece of leather (the 2nd photograph above) to accomodate the handle, I bet it would work.
