Sleeping with knives

Hmm... Sleeping with a knife in hand, I think that is just plain dumb. Worse then sleeping with a loaded gun in bed. My question would be what are you soo terrified of? and the second would be why a knife and not a gun? Third question.. Do you even have any training?

In the event of a home invasion I have my HK45 with streamlight TLR-1 attached, and thats the quickest weapon to get to, the second weapon (once I have the pistol in hand) That I go for is the 870 under the bed. Wife is calling 911 at this moment, and im hunting.

A knife is gonna be completely useless in your hand if the intruder has a gun, or if there are more then one. Unless are you a professionally trained operator who has been through training on how to effectively use a knife in combat? Even then, a smart man would ditch the knife and use a gun. I suggest you get some sort of alarm system or dog as early warning. I have a 160lb Newfoundland who barks at anything right outside the door/ window. He sleeps downstairs, he is my alarm. Knife for protection is a very poor choice.

You guys don't have dogs? Anyone invading my house will have a english staffy and a pit/lab mix to sneak past before they can sneak up on me in bed. They're almost always in the house at night and aren't stuck in crates.
I don't have to go far for a gun or knife in my house but I'm not sleeping with 'em in the bed.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned ;)

And by "scorned", I assume you mean jabbed in the leg because her husband was sleeping with a knife in his hand, and it flipped open when he turned over. :D

If your goal is self defense, you'd be better off with a bright flashlight in your hand than a knife.

So not only do you bring Knives to gun fights, but you only bring a flashlight for a home invasion? :concern:

My knives aren't really staged for defense. It's just the last place I fondle them at the end of the day.

My dog is buying me time to dawn the ballistic vest and grab the shotgun behind the door.

Exactly, what I meant. My dogs have never been in a situation where they needed to protect us so I don't know how they'd react. They're both very friendly. I like to think that they'd be protective if the person had ill intents though.
However, They are alert and bark when anyone comes up to the house. Buddy the lab/pit mix loves sitting at the window and watching the neighborhood.

Since guns are verboten here, I have my Boker Armed Forces Tanto under my pillow and a Colt X1 'hawk next to the bed. And a bright flashlight

45 Auto, .357 M66, AR-15, machete, baseball bat, Cold Steel Voyager, Gurkha, baton, M870 Remington, pepper spray, Taser gun, board with nail in it, Western Bowie, Glock 34, and razor wire around the bed.

:grumpy::mad:;)

I sleep with my folder next to me on a nightstand. I used to put it under my pillow until I discoverd some knife oil on my bed sheet, so it's on a nightstand now. My folder goes everywhere with me unless I can't bring one.;)

I don't purposely have a knife on my night stand or under my pillow but I wont deny I've woken up with them around me (The house creaks and a dagger finds it's way under my pillow)

I sleep with a hard use tactical folder in my hand incase I wanna flick a blade while sleeping...

I like my knives. But if I were sleeping with your wife there are other things I'd want in hand.

I sleep with a Kershaw AO in my bath robe hanging on the bed post; a Kabar in my night stand along with a loaded S&W 357.
Also have a super bright multiple LED flashlight on the night stand.

You apparently are not married to a mean woman! If I crawled in bed with a knife, she would use it on me!

I'll stick with my 40 cal Glock and a mighty brite flashlight. I also have a folder on the nightstand.
I like to fondle my knives when I am awake.

When I'm at home, I like to carry a knife clipped IWB of my shorts when I'm at home, and there have been times when I fell asleep with it. Usually, they get placed on my nightstand.
