Slim, small & lightweight

Do retailers even have these yet? Cause if you're looking at MSRP, the actual price isn't going to be anywhere near that.

I saw it at knifecenter.com for 50 dollars.
Pre-sale.
Which means I have to pay at least € 60 for it over here. :jerkit:

I was going to recommend a Douk-douk, or Okapi, or maybe even a Opinel.

Then I went back and read about his one handed opening deal.

And no Spyderco? Perhaps that includes Byrds?

Difficult... you can always shop around for an AUS8 Cold Steal Voyager. They are inexpensive yet can actually hold a decent edge. Aus 8 is pooh pood on but it is a good working knife, much like the Douk-douks and Opinel's of the world.

Benchmade 530. if you look around a little you can probably find one for close to your price. It's a great knife

If you could live without the one hand opening feature then I really recommend the excellent, original and characterful Eka Masur. Classy Scandinavian savoir-faire. Strong and light with good 12C27 steel, and on ebay just within budget. It corresponds to all your criteria except the one-hand opening. One of my faves, it is a bit a sleeper in the marketplace but all those who try it seem to love it.

Another nice and non threatening choice within your budget is an alox Victorinox Farmer. Again, no one-hand opening but otherwise a really practical edc.

I also like the above mentioned Boker Trance: it fits all your criteria except perhaps it still looks too tactical for your taste. While I think it is a very nice knife at the price and I use it from time to time, I still prefer the Eka Masur (while losing the one-hand feature)

Hell yeah! It's my EDC of four years and I love it. It's been everywhere with me.:thumbup:

Wow thanks for all the great suggestions. Ideally I'm looking for something not too wide but I'll have a look at every suggestion put forward so far.

Yeah, although they are great knives, I don't like the Byrd style as well.

Sounds like you want the A G Russell Featherlite folder! The Kershaw Skyline and the Boker Hyper would also work. GOOD LUCK! Kevin

Especially if you're looking for something thinner/skinnyer, i would reccomend the gerber harsey air ranger....thin in both dimensions, and the scales are made of magnesium, so the knife is very light.....i carry one myself all the time, and love the knife! highly recommended....

I second the recommendation of the Ka-Bar Doziers. I think they are one of the best values for the money that there is. With $40 to spend you could buy two. Worth a look. :)

Yeah
If you use it, a whole bunch of the knife is sticking out and visible.

I don't like everyone to see I'm carrying a knife, not for fashion reasons, and I don't want to get in trouble.

It looks like the OD-1 is set up for tip down. In this case, much less of the knife would be showing.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

How much should it cost?

You have to understand if it is 50 dollars in the US, I have to pay 80 dollars over here.

Even then, I have a Kershaw Shallot and I'm not to particularly fond about the finish compared to my much cheaper Boker Trance.
So in my very limited experience Kershaws are overpriced. Probably because they are made in the US instead of Taiwan or China.
