Slingshot as part of Survival kit?

I made the sling-bow set-up , and modded a shaft to fit a Esee AH-1.

Wicked penetration at 20 ft....right through to the other side of 1/2" plywood:thumbup:

I've always packet a wrist rocket as long as I can remember. Silent but deadly.

if i had to count on a slingshot to do more than break a window i'd go hungry.

i have a folding wrist rocket somewhere, but the bands are shot and need to be replaced. they didn't ;ast long.

i'll stick with stuff that uses gunpowder. TYVM.

That sling looks nice, I bet it took a bit of patience.

Thank you. They're not too bad to make. Took me awhile to figure out how to get the net pocket to "pouch", though. Since that picture was taken, by a member of PaleoPlanet of a sling I sent him, I have decreased the size of the pocket and am going to decrease the 'pouching' a bit.

I think it will add to accuracy.

The guide was made from a cheap dollar store cutting board. It works quite well, although I never tried it for target accuracy.

I remember reading, years ago in The Locksmith Ledger, about using such a setup up above false ceilings to fling a piece of cord with a weight on it. Then when you had to do a long wire run for an alarm system, access control or CCTV coaxial cable, you just tied that to your cord and started pulling.

When I worked for an alarm company, I told the installers about that and they poo-poo'd it, make the job of running wire go too fast and they wanted to milk the jobs. :D

So I place an order with Cheaperthandirt.com and include a Trumark folding slingshot and ammo (among about $70 of other stuff..) and I get an email today saying they aren't shipping the slingshot because they are are restrictions here in RI:mad:

Looks like I'm going to have to grab one off ebay...

Been using a Wrist Rocket for 18 years with .35 cal. steel balls for ammo. What a combo.

Rhode Island has laws against them as well?

Damn.

I had a feeling they were a no-no here, but I figured it would slip past CTD.com...it's not like I'm buying an AR-15...it's a $10 peice of bent steel and a rubber band, jeez.

Just got my new DanKung Jungle Master slingshot in the mail today. Can't wait to try it out!

This post motivated me to dig out my Sling Shooter; I called it my 'Flintstone Special'. I got it from the Sportsman's Guide over 20 years ago.

It's approximately 18 inches long and over 6 inches tall. It weighs about 2 to 3 pounds.

Unfortunately, the left fork is bent out a little bit and causes anything shot from it to curve to the left.

I carry a set of the tubing in my emergency kit as a multi use item. It can be used for a variety of things - slingshot, frog/fish spear, strapping, tourniquet, etc. & weighs practically nothing.

I may just do that. Me and a friend bought two crapy rist rockets a few months ago. They both broke by the end of the day. A good sling shot could be a good adition to any bug out bag though. The sling bow is a cool idea also.

It's ridiculous, we should put them all on their own island somewhere and let them control each other... oh wait, we do that already-it's called the public school system, or as it should be called, the federal instruction institution...

I actually carry one in my pack, with a little practice it is a very effective tool.....and fun
