Slingshot as part of Survival kit?

I too carry a sling shot in my survival pack. Mine is the David and Goliath style, but after seeing Dave Canterbury's arrow sling thought I would add that in too. It is easy to practice with either one while sitting around the camp fire.

+1 on the rotting. I bought 3 of the wrist-rocket ones. one day i decided to play with them ( maybe a couple years after purchase ) and all 3 of them just broke on the first try. bit of a rude awakening. anyone know of a better type of band for them or something that won't perish ?

I've had several through the years. The most recent is one like Doc-Canada's. I guess that's a Wrist Rocket correct? Anyhow the straps on mine rotted out too so I've got to remember to take it to my local LeBaron hunting/fishing/sports store for replacement tubing.
I have Copperhead 3/8" ball bearings for ammo.

Just got my new DanKung Jungle Master slingshot in the mail today. Can't wait to try it out!

I love my Jungle Hunter. Great slingshot, and fits well right in my pocket.

I have the 8 strand bands for mine....makes it very powerfull. I need to buy a roll of that tubing.

Now that's a nice looking SS. Did it come wrapped with the paracord?

Yeah they come wrapped in black paracord. Im rewrapin mine in Coyote.

You can pick them up cheap at stores like Target and Walmart, but Barnett (http://www.barnettcrossbows.com/product/pro-diablo-2#) has been making very, very serious slingshots for decades. I had a nice one as a kid and got to be pretty accurate with it out to about 15 to 20 yards or so. I'm sure they would make a survival situation a bit easier as long as there was small game like birds, rats, rabbits, lizards, etc. around. Cheaper and lighter than most pellet/BB guns too.

i really like the idea of the slingshot for outings, i think im going to go pick a few up for the kids
will be a fun outing to go and teach them how to shoot them
thanks for putting the idea in my head

Very easy to carry just some tubing in your survival kit and make a slingshot on the fly. Some ball bearing ammo doesn't take up much room either.

Yeah, Dave's sling bow rocks. What an insanely cool invention! With the whisker it is very accurate. I've yet to make some two-piece arrows though. That is my next project.

Hey Doc. All is not lost. I used to have (Made in England) a BSA 20mm pellet rifle. The really cool thing about it was that it had a built in *Suppresor*!!! And was super quiet. I gotta say its bigger than a pistol, but it sure was cool. Bought at sportmans wearhouse. But pricey $395.00 This is the people of the good ole England's idea of having as close to a firearm (890 fpc) as one could have, and as quiet as it was, I guess good for poching a few birds, rabbits, ect. I'm gonna see if I still have a pic of that somewhere? Enjoy. edgy

theres currently a pellet gun you can go out and buy that has a sound suppressor built in. Its called the GAMO Whisper.

But I still think I'm going to get a slingshot to add to my hunting/survival kit.
