Slip or no slip?

I like a single slip that holds two knives in one pants pocket. It’s a “2 birds with one stone” kinda thing. My knives aren’t floating around loose scuffing each other up, and it frees up the other front pocket for a phone, keys, wallet. small flashlight, or whatever else you decide to drop in a pocket that may not necessarily be empty.

It depends. I'm comfortable with or without a slip, though I prefer not to have one out of sheer simplicity of motion when a pocket knife is called for.
The thing is though, while most times I carry a pocket knife alone in my left pocket (I'm left handed) ...
If the knife is that dear to me, I will use a slip when other items are in the pocket along with the pocket knife.

I used to be a major slip guy. Always carried one. Then I noticed the slip was getting gunk from the bolster/from the covers and scratching the heck out of my knives. I’d suddenly have new Barlows with perfectly straight scratches in the same spot. Further inspection there would be grit stuck in the slip 🤦‍♀️

Yeah the straight scratches happens to my knives too. I usually just flitz them away every now and then. But I reckon it’s still in better shape than without a slip. I’m interested in those felt lined slips for my special knives

I never used slips when I was younger, but started using them and can't see going back. I loose far fewer knives to the couch now. You have to be careful though: Once you start getting slips, you'll need various combinations for every knife/pen/flashlight combo in you arsenal!

I usually carry my knife in my front pocket with my keys and flashlight, so it gets scratched up some. I can’t put it in my other pocket because I have my phone in there. I ordered some slips to use when I carry something nice and dont want to get it scratched up, but honestly I hate it. It is inconvenient to me to pull the slip out of my pocket and remove the knife from it, and then have to find something to do with it while you make your cuts, it just doesn’t feel as natural as just fishing my knife out to cut and drop it back in the pocket. If my knife is small enough I will drop it in my watch pocket to separate it from the scratchy stuff too, but I guess I have accepted that I need to carry a knife I am not concerned about getting scratched up. I just use them and try to not worry about it
