Slip or no slip?

Does that work or are you kidding us? 😁
Works like a charm, Johnny!:cool::thumbsup: And way easier than sewing a little seam in your pocket, which also works perfectly to keep a knife vertical.

I don't remember who posted the first mention I saw of that method, but redsparrow redsparrow posted a couple of nice photos that helped me understand how to set it up. All of the pants I wear regularly have a safety pin along the front edge of the left front pocket. I leave the pins in "permanently", and even through dozens of washer/dryer cycles, I've only had a pin come unfastened once.

But I tend to carry several knives at a time, so I'll have one in the little safety pin pouch, and a couple with slips, a couple on key rings, and a couple just loose in my pockets.

I hope you have a good belt to keep your pants from sliding. ;)

Op,

Yes and no. Sometimes. It really depends on the knife and my mood. I do carry my lambfoot in a slip everyday. The second knife is a sometimes

I’m confused. 😂

Seriously, it works perfectly, and unlike sewing a seam in your pocket, it's easily adjustable for the knife being carried.
It's my daily habit in the morning now. It's the best way I've found to carry my knife. and it hasn't done any damage to my pants or leg.

That is hilarious. 🤣

That's a great idea! I used to put some stitches in my pockets , but got lazy and use the slips instead. I'm going to try this out!

I carry them in a slip. I use a slip that has a pocket clip on it. I don’t care about the knife being protected as much as I do about keeping it in place, upright, and quicker to access. A sideways knife in the bottom of my pocket drives me crazy.

The safety clip trick is a new one to me and sounds pretty nifty though.

Really depends on what I'm carrying, but usually it's a medium folder in a slip in the back pocket and a small folder without a slip in the watch pocket.

To slip, or not to slip, that is the question...

Honestly, I don't feel like slips really "redistribute the weight of the knife in your pocket" like many people say, and they sure don't help the knife to not to fall horizontally and look like you have a stick in your pocket. But they do help to keep patina-friendly parts shiny for a much longer time, which is vital for a sweaty guy, so... To slip, indeed.

Try one with a square bottom. ;)
I did, it doesn't work either, but the cornres stick out and make it look even worse. 🤣 For the small knives I just put it into the watch pocket (man, I love that pocket!), but it only works with smaller knives. A-a-and creates other problem - slip sticks out as if it was sayin "Hey, dust, come in here, there's plenty of room in me!". Maybe I am too picky, but wasn't happy seeing the knife butt shines from there every time I look down. Yeah, I surely can just stitch the main pocket into a sections, but what then, I should do it with all my pants?.. Still in thoughts about all that things. 🤔

Edit: funny thing is how I can stick something like Cold Steel Broken Skull into the same watch pocket, with it being about 2-3 inches out, and be perfectly fine with it (well, almost). Though I feel like that thing also needs a slip or something, because it's black coating is somehow prone to stains.

One of my friends just got a slip from CK that has a magnetic clip to hang on to your pocket that I am envious of . I have probably a dozen slips but I am thinking about ordering one of them .

Harry
I got one of the CK slips with the clip on the side, not the magnetic one, just a steel clip. Totally hated the thing.

Gave it to my mother and she adores it. She uses it all the time for her 38 Farmer's jack.

I just mention this to illustrate that what works for one person may be terrible for another. So try lots of things. Good advice for life too, probably.

The knife is shown outside the pocket, just so you get the idea.
When it's used, the knife is inside the pocket, but that makes for a boring picture. 🤣
Got it thanks I have some locking safety pins so I will give it a try.
