I am the one on the right.... :D

"Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.

Every morning in Africa, a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death.

It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.” :no attribution.

My favorite adult beverage is Jack Daniels Black.

best regards -

Anyway's.. Here is the next part of the Contest Give-A-Way BOOTY!

Check out this OLESEN Knife Company knife Traditional Sheath Knife that also now goes with the already aforementioned Schrade Walden # 219 slipjoint to the fortunate Winner.

This knife is expertly hollow ground of fine vintage 1960's - 70's hi-carbon steel crafted with a good useful fuller~groove and an uncommonly nice and thick-fat round-stock STAG handle and single Brass guard with typically appropriate spacers of that time..

This knife is the perfect Hunter/Skinner(reminiscent of the Case XX Little Finn :)) with the perfect size smaller carbon blade and the Stag Handle a Man can grasp in his paws.

Many, Many Blessings to you all,

I've resisted entering any give-a-ways until now, but since I'm now a grizzled veteran with over 100 posts, I've paid my dues, right? Thanks for the contest!

Picture: Me trying to take my own picture at The White House last summer. Unbeknownst to me, my daughter slipped in at the last second and balanced my ugly face with her pretty one. (The guy behind the fence may be photoshopped).

Drink: As much as I love Coke and coffee, I have to go with Newcastle Ale.

Quote: This may fall outside the guidelines, but I ran across it recently and love it:

The Appointment in Samarra
as retold by W. Somerset Maugham (1933)

The speaker is Death
There was a merchant in Baghdad who sent his servant to market to buy provisions and in a little while the servant came back, white and trembling, and said, Master, just now when I was in the marketplace I was jostled by a woman in the crowd and when I turned I saw it was Death that jostled me. She looked at me and made a threatening gesture, now, lend me your horse, and I will ride away from this city and avoid my fate. I will go to Samarra and there Death will not find me.

The merchant lent him his horse, and the servant mounted it, and he dug his spurs in its flanks and as fast as the horse could gallop he went.

Then the merchant went down to the marketplace and he saw me standing in the crowd and he came to me and said, Why did you make a threatening gesture to my servant when you saw him this morning?

That was not a threatening gesture, I said, it was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Baghdad, for I had an appointment with him tonight in Samarra.

Cool contest!

Here I am last year...

A favorite quote?

Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man.
- Mark Twain

Drinks? I like a good Captain and coke. I also enjoy a Bailey's on ice from time-to-time... I drink Green Tea in the mornings.

Here I am. Holding my girlfriend of 3 years now. Were at school, and its super effing cold in my opinion. I know, I'm a good looking guy!

And myu favorite quote would have to be..."I believe man will not merely endure, he will prevail… because he has a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance." I read that in a Superman book somewhere and that was Johnathan Kent talking to Clark. Just always loved that quote.

Finally, even though I'm 21, my favorite drink is and will always be Bargs Root Beer! I love that stuff with a passion.

This is my wife and me in Hawaii.

I have a lot of favorite quotes, but this is one of my more recent discoveries:
No matter how far we may wander, Texas lingers with us, coloring our perceptions of the world. – Elmer Kelton

My favorite drink is either Dublin Dr Pepper (with real cane sugar) or iced tea.

Thanks for the kind words. :)

Those two hooligans in the picture with me, being their father's sons, love pocketknives and have been carrying them since they were little fellows.

My younger son has a real thing for traditional fixed blades, while his older brother is more of a slipjoint man. :)

Sunnyd, that's a great fixed blade! I really hope I win.

The photo was a nice idea, it's great to see the mixture of different age groups and life styles that make up this forum. It certainly speaks to the versatility of traditional patterns, since they can handle the needs of such different folks.

Not sure how many times I have posted in the traditional but I'll give it a shot.

First, the pic......me and the one that will claim the booty if I do happen to win. He is ten now but this is one of my favorite shots of he and I...

the quote....

"If someone were to ask me what has been my biggest accomplishment in life, I would lift my head high and speak from my heart with a parent's pride as I said the words 'my son'". -Andrea Adaire Fischer

Favorite beverage? There was a natural spring on my grandfather's farm that had the coolest, cleanest water you ever sipped. Nothing else has ever come close to being as good as that water. Or maybe it's the memories of him dipping his hand down in it and bringing it up to his lips after a hard day in the field. Either way, that is the drink that I love the most.

Thanks for the opportunity. My boy always beats me to the mailbox when knives are on the way so if I win, I won't have "won" them for long. :)

Wow.. An incredible response to this thread thus far and after I slide in here at least once every day and find you fella's and gals posts with all your quotes & pix, it makes me so pleased I started it up!.

Remember now to you folks that don't usually frequent Traditional:

A dozen post counts in the Traditional Forum by the end of this contest on, 2/26/2010 should be pretty easy. ;) :)

OK, I've been a getting razzed a bit from multiple members in here for not submitting my own current photo..

So here you go, from December, 2009 right after I sighted in my 30-06. My little shutter-bug daughter caught me unaware..

They're many quotes I like and many more I am still seeking/searching for, but one of my favorites is from:

Proverbs ~ 15:19:

"The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns, whereas the way of the upright man is a highway".

My all time favorite beverage: Any good single malt scotch 12 years or older. :)

Best,
Anthony

That was one of my favorite shows growing up. Even got mom and dad to take me to where they filmed . What the heck was the cooks name? Its driving me nuts...

Sorry for getting off track here Anthony. I still haven't been able to find any pics of myself because the wife moved all of our pictures on to different discs:mad: AND, the wifes daughter still has our good camera, and our back up doesn't seem to want to work.
SO, I guess I'll hang out on this one and watch to see who the lucky winner is...
BTW, It was good to see your pic and finally put a face to the name after all the communicatin we have done
