TLC, I have a 2001 Case 75, mint with the usual "rubs", nice dark vintage bone. I'm looking for Harness Jacks, and older Schrades. I have another mint 75, but I haven't found it yet; probably today. :o sometime.

Anybody interested in a Schatt and Morgan Rail splitter? No box but the knife is new. I really like bone handle Whittlers and Congresses . Larry

Larry, I have a used Boker Tree Brand Congress. Grey jig bone scales, red tree brand shield. Numbered 126 on bolster, not sure how big the run was but I think 250. If you're interested I can shoot some pic's of it. Blades are 99% full with some patina bone is excellent. Has been sharpened. Not sure if it's an equal trade or not, but we can talk about it.

If it is old and related to Pennyslvania like, Kane, Tidioute, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, "I know what your saying, its HIM again" I will trade just about anything for. (Hope my first born isn't reading this) he may have to pack his bags. Keep me in mind folks, I think this is a great idea.

This really takes me back to what a knife "used to be". I've been fascinated with blades since I was a child. My grand daddy grew up poor and was the first one in his family to make it past 8th grade. He was barefooted when he left home and went to work. He ended up working his way through college and becoming a petroleum engineer and did quite well. One of the first stories I remember him telling me was about the first time he had enough money to walk into a store and actually buy a new pair of overalls and a barlow knife. He said when he did that he figured he was rich. I think he was right. I wish I had that knife. That's who he was to me.

Hi PA KNIVES; I have this nice Dogleg jack to trade. Someone "cleaned" it, but it's still nice. Matching jigged bone handles, no visible cracks. Blades snap good! The master is probably 1/8" short, the pen looks full. Both blades are stamped; SCHATT&MORGAN
CUTLERY CO
TITUSVILLE PA
I'm sure it's a pre-1929 knife, as the stamp style appears correct. I collect Harness Jacks, and some New England knives. Interested?

waynorth,
I would try and trade you a Old HJ right now, if'n I did not know our own beloved PA Knives existed here.. :p

However, I am happy he is here among our ranks and will not respond to such a lushus offer.;) :D So that he may have that first opportunity instead..

I have this Smith Brothers Hardware senator knife.

I paid way too much for it my early days of collecting, but I was told that it was made under contract by the New York Knife Company. It does have some nice bone scales.

In the spirit of trading, I'm open to just about anything. Unless you have a Dark Ops slip joint.

sunnyd, are you talking about the Keen or the Miller that you sent to me pictures of? If you tell me what kind of knife gets your blood pumping, I'll see what I can find. By the way, keep watch for the postman!

way,
If you are interested, I would like to trade off both of them to you. Firstly, the vintage HJ prices are easing higher and higher each time I do a search for them on the web, including eBay. Second, the down right scarcity of decent examples are getting harder to find as time goes by. Third and most importantly to me, even if I had buckets of money(which I do not) to start and continue a vintage HJ collection, I would likely fall short of any substantial displays worthy of a prideful effort.

I would rather instead offer them to you for trade in the hopes that I can contribute in small way to your efforts and thereby the greater good for the totality of the Harness Jack pattern's history and provenance. Since I am extremely interested in the research and development on the subject and your expertise and future desire to pursue the aforementioned, I believe it most prudent to make sure you receive them one way or the other.. I just want a signed copy of your book when it comes out!..;) :D

You as well!. You will be receiving the package I shipped out to you any day now. Oh, and yet again I found another Schrade in another of my crates(2 blade peanut pattern)making it a five pack all in all.. Can't wait to get the whittler. I have a nice oak branch that is cured to perfection and will soon become a walking stick for a friend.

Well, Thanks! Other than that, I'm speechless!
You shall have the book, no question; fair warning, it's slow going. But let's find a couple of knives that you can enjoy. Give me an idea of what you like! If PA KNIVES is not interested in the Schatt&Morgan, I detected a note of lust on your part(heh heh!), but as I indicated earlier in this thread, I've got a bunch of knives that need "thinning" so give me a couple of ideas.
Charlie

Sunnyd, what are you doing up fooling around on BF at 2:00 in the morning??
Yeah it is that much fun! I see our posts crossed, so we are both pecking away here(2 fingers for me). Look forward to hearing from you,
CC

Yes, the lust you detected was valid. I really like the old S&M. But as stated previously I want to give PA first shot. If he declines, then I would like to be considered for it as a secondary trading partner. I will let you know about other pattern specifications very soon.. As far as the book goes, I know it is painstaking work and steady as she goes, but I'm not going anywhere. Besides, I thoroughly enjoy any and all updates as they become available.

LOL!!:D

You made me laugh hard with that one!.That was good..

It just dawned on me that we are on polar opposites sides of the country, you and I. Yes, that means as I type this last little note before hitting the rack that it is merely 12:00 midnight there and 3:00 am here deep in the southeast.. Cool. Chat w/u/soon..
