Slysz Bowie discontinued!!

I had one and the quality was certainly there, but the blade shape never really grew on me.

blade shape is the whole point...otherwise its a different knife. always like any bowie, but a bit small and pricey for my preferences. regardless sorry to see it go.

I handled a Slysz Bowie once. I can understand the high praise for fit and finish, but somehow the design just didn’t move me. The blade shape contributed.

Give me the advocate blade shape but less length with everything else from the bowie and I am sold! I like the shape and that its less broad.

I did pick up a NIB Bowie on the forums for $230 a few months back and I love it. Its my most carried knife. I can never decide if its a large or small knife, closed it feels very small and thin, open the blade seems large but never clumsy (for lack of a better word) like a GB 2 did. GB1 blade length felt right.

It's a great folder, I really love mine. Somehow it doesn't get as much pocket time as others in my lineup.

I'm looking at you manix2.

I wonder if this would free up some factory space in Taiwan for a Nirvana 2? CTS-XHP steel with the same finish on the blade as the Slysz bowie had. PB washers instead of bearings... FFG and same smooth finish on the TI handle as the Slysz Bowie.

I'd buy.

Me too

In my opinion the cost of production on the Slysz went up and spyderco does not want to pass the price hike on to costumers . $300 to $350

Not necessarily. I think the main hangup for some folks (at least for me) about the blade shape is the slightly excessive upsweep at the tip. This makes it much more difficult to use the tip for scoring cuts on a flat surface and makes it less suitable for puncturing. There are countless examples of Bowies with less upsweep at the tip...even some of the earliest models like the one displayed in the Alamo had a less extreme forward belly. I have actually considered buying a Slysz Bowie and doing a regrind to make a very slight change to the profile. I still might.

Had this exact issue yesterday trying to cut into clamshell packing that had little compartments. I just used my GEC with coping second ... much better.

I am with Lance, that blade shape isn't even a Bowie unless you use the watered down definition of Bowie which has come to mean nothing more than a blade with a clip point. That is all that term has come to mean when describing many knives. It could easily have a less upswept tip and you could still use that loose definition to describe it.

yeah true, but...........some folks here were saying swap blade with a not bowie blade. i was leaning more thay way in my comment. make sense?

Any dealer have them at a dicontinued price yet . Im hoping for a 60% discount $200 .
Heard they were selling out so fast since they discontinued it that they haven't needed to discount them. Dunno.

Yes, and I agree. I guess I was just saying that I generally like the blade...it's just the profile of the edge and belly that are a little off from what I find most useful. (and honestly, the upsweep isn't radical like the K2. It's just barely past what I find acceptable) If I actually reprofile one, it won't take much steel removal at all to make it to my liking.

you Sir are one of the best at changing blade shapes into more useful for your tasks. my favorite of yours that ive seen is the salt made into a sharp point.
