Small EDC flashlight recommendations

I carry a Quark MLX-1. I'm pretty sure its the same as the Quark miniX-123. 200+ lumens on its highest setting and has 8 settings overall. Quite a bit of light for something that can be placed on your key chain.

I am a big fan of the Sunwayman V11R. I use CR123 but as mentioned previously, you can get an extender that will work for AA's. You can use rechargables or primaries. With rechargeables, they claim 570 LED lumens on high. Good luck!

I didn't see the Maratac AAA Rev 3. I carry one everyday on my key chain in a Kydex holder. Slightly larger than the AAA battery that runs it. The first one was great and the second and third revisions got even better.

The diffuser works well too!

I too was going to suggest Maratac. I have the 2 AA "extreme" since I wanted a bigger light, but now I'm really considering getting the copper single 123 light as well. I'm very happy w/my Maratac, but since I've no experience w/any other lights other than Maglites, I may not have the most rounded opinion.

My 2 recommendations. The L3 illumination L10 and the Eagletac D25a in titanium. Both AA lights. I much prefer AA or AAA for pocket carry since they are thinner than 123 lights and batteries are always readily available. I really never need more lumens than these lights put out, and both disappear in the pocket. Both of mine run Nichia 219 emitters, which are less efficient than the Cree XML lights, but produce a warmer color temperature. You can get both lights in cool white with higher lumen output.
My knife collecting has considerably slowed down, but its been bolstered by a new and dangerous interest in quality flashlights. See below for 2 favorite knife and flashlight combinations.

My current EDC light is the Streamlight Stylus Pro 2, loaded with the Lithium AAA's.

I previously carried a Surefire L4 Lumamax LED, and I really can't say I miss it for the every day tasks.

The biggest advantage is that the Stylus Pro 2 cost me $20. If I lose it, no big deal. I'll immediately replace it with the same. The Surefire would cost me way over $100.00 to replace, and I'd be pissed if I lost it.

I have a Fenix E05 on my keychain. It's a twisty single AAA and with an eneloop it lasts a long time before needing to be charged. It has more of a flood-type output which is perfect for my needs for a keychain light. My wife has an Inova XS on her keychain. It's nice because it has a momentary on button and twist to stay on function. It has two output modes and the brighter one is very bright for a AAA. They've both been 100% through all the abuse a keychain gets.

I keep a Fenix E11 in my EDC bag and it's great. It's a single AA light and very bright (button).

I'm a bug Fenix fan. I've been using them for probably ten years or so almost exclusively and never had a single failure of any sort.

Thanks for the comparison pictures. I wondered how that olight penlight shaped up against the streamlight stylus pro. How does the switch compare to the Stylus Pro? I like the long travel on the Stylus Pro switch, it doesn't turn itself on in my pocket like the Fenix penlight I have.
The Streamlight has a rubber booted switch and it is a little harder to press it on. The o'pen has a hard switch and 3 modes with memory and a much much floodier beam. Switch has enough resistance that it never comes on when I don't want it or in the pocket.

check out the new thrunite ti3....super bright keychain light that uses a single AAA battery.
mine is on order.

I highly recommend zebralight. I've been carrying one for several months now and I absolutely love it. I got the AA version in case I'm in a bind because they're readily available, but for edc I use a 14500 lithium. Super bright, battery life is certainly good enough for my brief day to say uses. Build quality is superb and I've been nothing but happy with it since I started carrying it.

Fenix E01. It's a twisty, but easy to operate one handed if it's hanging off of a keychain or pocket knife (I have mine clipped to a LM squirt PS4). I's advantages are a very long battery life, IPX8 waterproofing, a nearly flat regulated output, $15 price tag , and .8 oz weight with a lithium primary battery. It's disadvantages are a purple tinted beam with minor artifacts, and comparatively low output of 13 lumens (adaquate for trail and pavement walking). If you're looking for a pocket sized daymaker, look elsewhere. If you want something that almost as reliable as death and taxes, you will have a hard time finding something better.

I've gotto agree with Clang! on the E01. I've that little Fenix in my pocket now for a few years, and it's been reliable as a rock, and enough light to see what I'm doing in the dark, and a very long run time. There are brighter lights on the market, but not is such a small package and combining usable light with insane long runtime, and rock like reliability. If I lost my Fenix E01 today, I wouldn't even think of another light, but buy another E01 as fast as I can. It's a nice blend of usability.

I just picked up a Preon 1 and it's awesome. It's not as bright as lights I'm used to, but for the size, it's great.

Has anyone tried this one? Fenix E05 2014 Edition 85 Lumen LED KeyChain Black Flashlight

Here's a small flashlight/stun gun combo. Plenty of light and will knock the balls off a bull. A slide a the rear pops out a plug for recharging.Comes with a pocket or belt case.

Enough light for edc and 17,000,000 volts of stun. About $13
