Small Fixed Blade Defensive Knife

Hello,
I carry a small folder all the time for general cutting needs but want to add a small fixed blade for more of a personal defense knife. Here are some things I'm looking for:

-fixed blade (legal to carry in my state)
-2.5-4" blade
-horizontal belt carry (can also add sheath to perfect knife)
-double edge, at least partially (legal to carry in my state)
-slim and as light as possible for easy concealment and comfort
-ideally, I'd also like a full grlp
-don't really want to spend more than $100 total

So in my search, I've found a few possible knives:
Kabar TDI Hellfire - not a big fan of tanto blades, also I don't think the sheath allows horizontal carry
Tops Felony Stop - maybe a little gimmicky,
Spartan Blades Enyo - Love it, but a little pricey
Shivworks Clinch Pick - Only one edge

Any opinions on these or options that I'm missing by chance? I feel the perfect knife is out there, I just don't know the name of it. Thanks guys!

The clinch pick is a great knife if you take the time to learn how to use it but in my opinion it is to compliment a handgun. I only took a quick look at your laws but double edge appears to be out entirely. Also the laws are kind of screwy because it basically says any knife made for self defense is illegal to carry, going off that idea the Spartan enyo is probably the only one you could even try to pass off as a non self defense blade. Also knowingly concealing is illegal as well, the laws I'm looking at may be outdated but that was what I found with a quick search.

Thanks for the reply. I do have my ccw and carry a handgun. Also, with Missouri law, a CCW basically voids the knife laws. So with a CCW, I can carry autos, balisongs, double edged blades on so on. I should've mentioned that before. I'll look more into the clinch pick then. Thanks again

The Spyderco Ronin 2 isn't a double edge weapon, but it is a nasty slasher. At 4.1 for the blade length, you are walking a fine line. You could always fix that with a little modification. Horizontal carry sheath, and about 90 bucks at Bladehq.

Moot point because OP has CCW, but after Jan 1 2017 Missouri concealed carry (including knives) is changing. No CCW required for concealed fixed blades.

Cold Steel Safe Maker II Push Dagger

Edit: Lol Kansas is better no CC license for guns to CC. No limit on knives length, shape, auto, open carry, CC, etc... the only thing you can't have is Ballistic knives (not useful in anyway IMO) and Throwing star ( :( I dont understands this one though)

I just got a Bradford Guardian3 fixed blade in M390. Blade is 3.5"; sharpened edge is 3.0". Excellent horizontal sheath, plastic lined.
They are in the $150 range, but the knife will hold an edge for a VERY long time, and you'll pass it down to your kid some day.
I have had quite a number of fixed blades, but for the money, this is a winner.

L.T. Wright also makes a fine line of fixed blades and is cheaper, but still with good materials. I am NOT sure whether he has a horizontal sheath, which, by the way, I am immediately fond of...since I got my Bradford.

Go to the Exchange and look on the For Sale; Production fixed blade and the fixed blade: custom forums for TONS of info and shopping.
You can look at the dealers' stuff for sale, or go to the INDIVIDUALS forum for much cheaper prices on many items which are "as new." (My general choice)

You have stated that you want a knife for $100 or less. That's okay, and you can find one, but I wouldn't be so concerned about price, since you'll only buy it once, and as a defensive knife...your life might depend on it...

I don't know about the exact carry position, but maybe take a look at the Benchmade SOCP too, seems very popular in these forums and appears very often in these kind of threads.

I agree with the benchmade socp.. small, very concelable, double edged.. made for 1 thing defense.. and under your price limit..

That knife looks a little bulky for me. I think I would like a less wide blade.

Gryphon M10.
Cold Steel Counter Tac II.
Kershaw 4007 Secret Agent.

The M10 may be on my short list. Definitely on the edge of too long for horizontal belt carry, but I'll look into it. Thanks!

That's very close to my ideal knife. Would like a bit of the double edge. Also, that leather sheath looks a little bulky, maybe I could find a kydex sheath for it.

Thanks!

I've looked at similar knives. Not really a fan of those giant grip/finger holes. I feel it limits you slightly on requiring a near perfect grip/grab.

the basic kabar tdi with a custom sheath would be my recommendation. there are lots of nice custom sheaths out there for the regular tdi, i got one with two soft loops and can easily carry it around on my belt and it can be accessed very easily.

the basic kabar helfire sheaths look like they would rattle quite a bit so a custom sheath for that would be needed also.

the spyderco reverse and ronin look nice too.

I knew there had to be something that negates it. The clinch pick is an excellent backup for a handgun and is made primarily for close in grappling type fighting hence the name. It's best worn to the left of the belt buckle canted downwards so it can be drawn forward grip right handed or reverse grip left.

I'm looking more into the TDI models, good price point too. Haven't seen the spyderco reverse before, looks pretty good just based on the designers!

Yeah, and as mentioned before, MO legislature just overrode the governor's veto on constitutional carry so concealed weapons will be legal without permit soon. I also see there's a shivworks ECQC class coming up this spring about an hour from where I live so that's what got me started at looking at these type of knives. I think I'll have to sign up for that seminar.

You can carry any knife that is "legal to own." Are autos legal to own in Missouri?

How about a push dagger? Cold steel makes good ones, very easy to conceal and would be hard to take from you in a struggle.

I'm not real knowledgeable about push dagger use but I guess it's something I should look into. Thanks for idea oxman.

I'm 99.999% sure. The state ban on "switchblades" was repealed a few years ago. You still need a CCW to carry one, at least until 2017.

Then you are good unless the knife, or its finished parts, came across state lines. If it did, it's contraband unless you fit into one of the narrow exceptions to the federal statute restricting movement of "switchblades" in interstate commerce.

RE: the Guardian 3... Bradford Knives sells kydex sheaths for the G3, but the leather ones work very well and under a tee are not really visible. Also, the sabre ground G3s have a partial false edge on top that could be sharpened if you really want a D/E knife. Don't really think it would be necessary to sharpen it, though. It will puncture soft material just fine as it is.
