Greetings...
Long time member but been away for awhile.
Im interested in suggestions for a small fixed blade knife that I can have a horizontal Kydex or Boltaron sheath made for.
Looking for a sub 5"-7" overall knife for general purpose use.
Thanks!

Just saw an ESEE Candiru (with handles)
Looks like that could be the ticket.
But welcome more suggestions along that line...

As you mentioned the Candiru...

Peanut and fish

The knife is capable, built once a fast shelter just with it.

Dawson makes a couple of knives that fit the bill and I know I love mine. The spartan enyo would also be good in that size.

I have an Enzo necker that I really like. It's a shade over 6" OAL with a blade length of approx 2.5".

It's made of 12c27 stainless steel which takes an edge easily, and available in scandi or FFG

I love my izula! Been looking at the enzo necker for something stainless recently. But the izula disappears when carrying horizontally.

The BK 14 / 24 and ESSEE have already been mentioned. I'll second both of those. My fav, though, for horizontal carry in a small FB is my Dozier Arkansas Traveler. They're hard to find but Dozier's Personal Utility is in the same size / price range and is more readily available. Dozier's horizontal kydex sheath is top-drawer. Very easy to mount and dismount without removing your belt and very secure when mounted.

What about a custom?
Daado (Dalibor) will make a knife built to your specs and it won't cost much. A sample of his work is shown below.

Details:
Blade length - 95mm (3,74")
Blade width - 30mm (1,181")
Thickness at the back of the spine 3,5mm - (0,137")
Overall length - 200mm (7,874")
Handle material: Textolite (vintage phenolic micarta over 30 years old), blue G10 liners, brass pins and lanyard tube.

I have a larger knife made by him, 4 3/4" blade, 9 1/4" oal and I Love it.
It takes a hair popping edge easily, holds an edge while working through black locust just fine, can take quite a beating, and on top of that it has some Great geometry, so it slices nicely too.

Nice...
Some great suggestions. Off to a Mothers Day dinner but will definitely research all these.
👍

Bradford Guardian3 might work. Choice of steel, grinds, and handle color. They have a kydex sheath option as well.

Brous silent soldier is a great knife. I second both esees but the izula does print a bit, at least for me. (Im a sorta skinny dude)

Already mentioned, but the knives that I carry horizontally are the Izula, the Guardian3, the Enzo Necker, and the Bark River Necker 2. I should get a group shot one of these days.

I'm a big fan of the Spyderco Street Beat. I have the micarta handled version and it's just an outstanding knife. Fred Perrin designs are so comfortable and I think great looking. Just my .02.

I always have to reccomend the Spyderco Bill Moran in these threads. It is just such an awesome blade. It comes with a high quality bolatron sheath with a g-clip. It also is a super light weight knife, thin, flat ground, vg-10, comfortable handle, carries easily and comfortably, attractive looking, and to beat all it cuts really well too! Plus you can get one in drop point or trailing (upswept) to match your preferences. It really is a blade that continues to surprise me with its versatility.
