Small Fixed Blade Suggestions

There Is an Enzo combo deal in the exchange, may meet your needs, but the trapper handle may be thinner than you like but it has an almost 4 inch blade. I was trying to think outside of the box.

Here ya go. Pick up a couple/few of these Mora while you are trying to decide what to buy.

I'm surprised it went to a 2nd page before Mora got mentioned.

Lots of awesome looking blades posted here. Here’s my humble carry. :D Not as big as some of the others here, but it’s light and carries well in the pocket.

I'm surprised the REK Ember hasn't been mentioned. First thing that came to my mind.

I've also been taking a look at rugged, small fixed blades and the Boker Plus PryMate Pro designed by Jesper Voxnaes has definitely caught my attention.

I have that as well, for me it's a great utility tool. With D2 steel at a very affordable price point. The kydex sheath isn't the best I have but works just fine.

I like my Toor Jank Shank. It's a chunky little monkey and very light. Gotta like any Izulas. If you can find them and go more upscale- a Joe Watson Hits or Gambo are stout knives.

A New York Special may be what you're looking for. Loveless design. Dozier's shop makes one, as do a few other makers.

An Esee 3 would fit your spec's and if you can go a bit longer, the Esee 4 is even more stout at 3/16" thick with a 4" blade.
The extra heft of the 4 makes the balance and feel really nice to me.

If he hasn't, he might want to look at the Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works Weasel 3. It's a 3" blade, 3/16" thick, torch hardened 5160. Should be nearly indestructible...

Spyderco Street Beat.

Another one that I like to carry is the Kershaw Field Knife Hunter (discontinued). It has a thick spine, but a nice slicey hollow grind.

I have the Bradford guardian 3 and while I love the blade, I'm not a very big fan of the handle. I have large hands and plenty of small knives do the trick for me. However, I've never been able to get a good purchase on the guardian 3.

At that size range, I would take a look at Fiddleback Forge. They make some excellent small fixed blades with well sculpted handles that, to me, fit well in a large hand.

Guardian 3 - 3.5in blade
Fiddleback Patch - 3in blade

Here are a few small fixed blade suggestions from my collection:

From top to bottom:
1) ZT 0121 (S30V)
2) Spyderco MagnaCut Mule
3) Russell Reese Cohutta Puukko (A2?)
4) LionSteel M4 (M390)

All are about the same length overall. And allhave a blade about 3.5" long, except for the ZT which is 4.25."

The ZT gives up handle for blade length and is the beefiest/heaviest of the bunch. The Mule's blade is probably too delicate for hard work but is the sliciest. The Cohutta is the most diminuative but also the most stylish; small enough to carry as a pocket knife; in its sheath, of course. And the M3 is probably the best of the bunch in terms of balance between blade/handle size and probably the best/most useful overall.
