I'm contemplating a small fixed blade to compliment a machete...I was thinking of sometype of necker but sturdier than my woodswalker, I was thinking about the mini canadian, but also being a big fan of the f-1 just started thinking about the fallkniven wm-1 I like the look of the barkie better, but the wm-1 can be used on my pfd as well and looks like a real handi blade with alot of handle. any thoughts.

As you know, both make great knives. I lean more towards fallkniven for the exact reason you mentioned, larger handles.

The WM1 is an great little blade! Great design. I use it all the time.

They don't come much tougher than these Riley...

But I would also recommend the PSK from Scott Gossman or keep checking out Scrapyard knives as we think they may be releasing a small blade shortly !!!

riley-- i don't have any experience with the wm-1, but i have heard great things about it.... and you can't go wrong with the mini or mikro canadian.... both great small fixed blades....
the gossman PSK is also an awesome knife, i have one that lives with my PSK.. it's wicked sharp and throws some mean sparks from a firesteel.....:D

i have a becker necker with all of the black coating removed, if you're interested in it let me know.....:)

The mini canadian is a cool knife. In one of the recent threads, a member posted a picture of his with a blaze orange handle and a neck sheath.

For a small neck knife, I recommend the CRKT Falcon. It is similiar is size, a little thinner, Pretty good zytel sheath, for $16. Sure it has AUS6 but that steel has served me well. It is so easy to sharpen and tough.

I'd love a Mini Canadian. At $78 with a leather sheath which would have to be replaced by a $30 kydex neck sheath, it doesn't compete.

thanks pit they look cool too....Regards...THis all stems about for 2 reasons...1st is when I go out alone, I tend to go to pretty desolate places but when I'm with the fam we tend to run into other hikers and what not, and I've gottens some stares and 1 negative commetn about wearing my fallkniven ...of course I have to consider the source, but none the less it puits me on the radar. the second point is your survival knife is often what you have on you and I never edc a med to large sized fixed blade... so i'm looking at something that's easily concealable or low key enough to not be noticed or one that is easily disregarded if noticed. my machete is in my pack whe in the woods so that will handle any thing tough but the little intricate things that you need a small yet sturdy knife for 100 times a day. that's what I'm scouting around for.

Hey there,

The gossman PSK is my next buy. I am sure I am going to like it.

Question: How do you like your woodswalker? And, do you edc it? I am looking at it with the leather wallet option, for next Christmas. I now, that's a long way down the road. :)

Take care,
Scottman

i edc the laci szabo qo. it comes with a kydex sheath from survivalsheath and is an excellent utility knife with diff. tempered 5160 steel. this might be more pricey than you are wanting to spend but i really like it.

very nice but more than I'm willing to dish out right now. The mini northstar is also really nice...

Scottman,

The woodswalker is great, it is a handi little slicer, I don't think it's thick enought to take a real beating but for fuzzsticks and cleaning panfish and bunnies it's spot on.

That's why you need a Mini Canadian. After a little wet-molding, the Woodswalker sheath is perfect for inconspicuous edc.
