New to this forum and Spyderco Knives. Looking for a small folder to have on me. I have several larger (up to 4" blade) folders I carry, but looking for something more compact. Plain/Serr. edge, either...

These are what I am considering:
Lava
Spin
Poliwog
Cricket

Any experience/advice? Primarily will be used for quick everyday needs. Box opening, Food cutting, office intimidation ;) , etc...

TIA

Hi jeepnut, Im new too. You might try checking out the kiwi, it feels great in the hand, and is good a slicer for everyday tasks.

That is a very nice looking knife. I'm looking for something with a sub 2" blade. Narrows down the options...

Hello jeepnut

Check out the Navigator II. I just got one and its my EDC.
Good ergo's.
Small and light in the pocket and out.
Available in PE and SE

What I like about the cricket, is it's low-riding clip. It's also about as light a steel handled Spyderco as you can get. It's perfectly suited for the activities you've listed. I don't have experience with the other knives you've listed.

Great advice... The Navigator and DragonFly are both nice...

Decisions, decisions...

You might also want to consider a Dodo. Of the knives you listed, I like the Poliwog. It's incredibly comfortable in the hand. Some people don't like the width of it when it's closed. It didn't bother me.

One word - LAVA - perfect small knife in ways I didn't even realize until I got it. Also I love the fact that it is so slim and light. It makes a great knife to wear with khakis or dress pants.

I have (or had) the following:
Cricket
Dragonfly
Ladybug
Navigator
Spin

My favorite, by a mile, is the Spin.
It really is a fantastic knife. The ergonomics are very pleasing, the size is perfect, and the blade profile makes for a scary sharp cutter.

Ordered a Spin this morning... :) My first Spyderco!

I'll probably get more of the others mentioned above soon (Lava, Cricket and/or Dragonfly) . A knife guy needs options. :D

I had the ladybug on my keychain for years. If you bunch your keys up, it works great as a handle for opening boxes.

I never really like my dragonfly. The clip is not really all that secure (only knife that I've ever lost), and the handle is too small. The blade is great tho.

Poliwog, for sure : unique knife, extra comfortable, native style blade and the rest is in the pic...

Another vote for the Navigator II. Great ergos... slices like a much, much larger knife. Sheeple friendly. Can't go wrong! :D

I love the Dragonfly. It's a big little knife that will more than capably handle everything you could want a small folder for. Plus, you can use it hard and it will stand up to just about anything.

If you can find a CF Dragonfly, get one. That is one if the best looking small knives I have ever seen. They are pricey though.

Found a good deal on a Poliwog and another good deal on a Lava...
Bought them both...
Now I gotta ask fer forgiveness from my better half... :(

Me = Sucker for nice knives... :o

SPIN or Cricket would be great choice.

Or if you like something very light, then wait for the Ladybug in VG-10. The Blade shape is nice, and now boost up with the good steel. This is a real must have.
