I forged this from a one inch square of 1095 high carbon steel
I did a differential heat treat to about 58 Rc on the edge and somewhat softer on the body. This ax will need to be sharpened with a stone, a file will skate on the edge
Dyed curly maple handle
Haft length: 14 inches
Head length: 5 3/4 inches
Cutting edge: 3 inches
Simple tie-on edge protector
