I'm looking for a small, pretty type folder for a female to EDC.

Specifics:
Blade under three inches
Good quality Steel
Preferrably a color other than black
Price under $75

Thanks for your suggestions

One of the different colored handled minigrips would be good....girls LOVE minigrips....most of my girlfriends have ordered one in tanto...girls like tantos too.

This particular female doesn't like any of the handle colors offered in the mini Grip. That's what led me to make this thread. I probably should have mentioned that.

Also, I find the blade steel and lock performance on the Chive and similar folders to be less than up to my standards.

I think an Mcusta would be perfect. Most are over $75, but I think there are some within your price range that are still very beautiful.

Maybe a bit larger than what you ask for, but still small enough for pretty much any "mini-knife" needs other than being on a keychain.

Or are you looking for a keychain knife?

Before you turn down any knives like the Rainbow Chive because of the lock and blade steel, keep in mind that you are buying it for her. Will she use it so much than 440A will be too soft and require sharpening too often? Isn't a softer steel like 440A great for her to learn to sharpen on? Do you really think she will use the Chive so hard that the lock (which is a good lock) will fail?

The steel in the Chive is good enough for most knife knuts, so I think it will work for her as a general EDC knife. The lock on the Chive is also pretty good for a knife of that size. You can't do any heavy batoning or chopping with the Chive anyways, so it doesn't matter if the lock isn't as good as that of a Manix or whatever. There is nothing wrong with the Chive's lock.

They have the Miss Army knife at newgraham...my ex girlfriend has one of those and loves it. But worthless for defensive purposes. But it's PINK!!!

Have you taken her to look at any knives? Let her fondle any? What knives of YOURS have she taken a shine to? I am a woman, and I EDC a variety of knives: a large Sebenza, a R.Hinderer Firetac, a Spyderco Calypso, Jr., a DMKnives Instigator........

It's an odd situation. The knife is for a friend of mine's girlfriend. I wouldn't be able to convince him that 440A is a good enough steel. It simply isn't up to his standards. He's an elitist in everything he takes interest in, so it's no use.

If it were my girlfriend, I would get her a Cricket, but he doesn't like that one.

Also, I had a Scallion and the liner lock on it was thin flimsey, and had horrible lock up. I could literally close it as if it were a slip joint, and I never abused the knife to make it that way, so it will be a while before I'll ever trust a Kershaw liner lock again.

If you can find one, a Benchmade 771 would be nice. I have the 773, which is black, but the 771 has that nice red and black swirl finish. It's been called a "gentleman's knife" but I bet it would make a nice "lady's knife". They ran about $105 new, but are discontinued I believe.

Yeah, either of those benchmites...What about a dodo? My girlfriend hates it, but...she loves the minigrip, so maybe it'll be the opposite for you. S30V and G10. He won't get much higher end than that for the price.

Too bad you don't have enough for a Buck Mayo TNT...that might do it too and that's REALLY high end materials with BOS heat treat...

Stainless steel Spyderco Cricket?

Benchmite?

My Wife has a Kershaw Chive that she likes; how about that?

Spyderco Kopa would seem to be a good choice. Maybe a bit out of the price range....

Benchmade Opportunist - okay, still a bit high...

Benchmade 705 - nice little knife in silver g-10 - can you still find them though?

Kershaw Splinter

SOG Rainbow Twitch

I think the Kopa is my favororite choice, but here a few others for fun.
