Lately, I have been carrying my Buck 303 and a few other Stockman patterns. The Sheepsfoot blade sees a lot of use.I carried a Camillus made Buck 303 every day for well over a decade. Only knife I used and I never felt "under knifed".
Longest blade is 2 1/2 inches.

The sheepsfoot excels at jobs which require starting a cut in the middle of a surface. The harder you push on the point, the more it forces the knife openn. I normally prefer to carry a traditional which has a sheepsfoot or wharncliffe blade for that reason.Lately, I have been carrying my Buck 303 and a few other Stockman patterns. The Sheepsfoot blade sees a lot of use.
Who made the folding rule in the center I have been looking for something like that for years.
OK that is a Lufkin No. 171 Carpenters folding caliper. made c.1920. Thanks for posting the Photo it pointed me in the proper direction I needed to look. I found and purchased this one. A 12" Stanley No 32 folding Carpenters caliper they were made from 1859 to 1941. These folding Boxwood calibers were popular with field scientists c.1900.
HeyI've done this in the past, especially living or working places where <3" blades were required.
My main experience agrees with this:
My hands are not so large but I definitely agree. Spyderco Delica, Spyderco Para3, Benchmade 525 are all good for extended use for me despite the small blades.
Benchmade 707 does not have enough grip for me to be more than light use. Small Sebenza is only slightly better; I would say "marginal" for my hands.
My preference is in the 3.25-3.75" blade range but I can get along just fine sub-3" with the right handle.
707 vs 525:
