Small knife that can double as a tie clip?

Hello everyone!

Like all of you, I feel completely helpless and naked without at least a small blade on me. Unfortunately, my new job doesn’t allow me to carry any sort of weapon. Our bags and pockets are checked when we enter the building.

For the past week I tried carrying a small Cobratec Mini Mamba OTF as a tie clip, and no one looked twice at it.

I am wondering what other small non-OTF knives might be able to double as a tie clip, likely nothing larger than 2.5 inches when closed. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

This little Bestech would do the trick. Really, just find any knife with a closed length that’s less than the width of your tie, and put it on clip side out.

Caution: you may “print” by just wearing a tie clip.

Microtech Exocet, Troodon-M, or UTX-70 CA possibly? The Exocet is a bit wide but does have a money tie clip. :)

Spyderco used to offer a tie clip version of the Ladybug. I'm not sure how easy they are to find. But you could probably have a clip soldered to the back of a stainless one easily. Same for any stainless knife.

You could also try to find one of the Executive Edge Pen knives that were popular in the 80's -90's for this type of thing -

.

They imported them from tie tack size to normal pen.

Depending on how comfortable you are, there's always buckle knives......

I feel like this is a great way to get fired...

I would either carry iwb with the clip under a belt or else get a small, slim neck knife to wear under your shirt.

I would never take a job like that. Hell I wouldn't take a job where I couldn't carry a gun.

I understand though. My buddy is the chief engineer for five federal buildings in downtown Chicago. He is only allowed to carry a knife as it's essential to his job. Same kinda routine, metal detectors, etc.

Is the goal to have a knife to cut stuff or as a weapon?

There are every day objects that make better improvised weapons than a teenie delicate knife. But they wont cut a loose thread.

I'm beginning to understand why they have that regulation in place. Also, why did you take that job? If your answer is "Because I really need the paycheck", then maybe use that same energy when candidly asking yourself the question "Should I smuggle a knife into a workplace that has a firm "No weapons" policy*?"

I mean, all it's going to take is the person checking your bag and pockets, being close enough to you to see that your tie is sticking out a bit because there's a knife behind it, or else they immediately recognize what's obviously the pocket clip of a knife and then suddenly, not only is it obvious you were attempting to skirt their policies by carrying a knife, but now you look like you were attempting to conceal a weapon on your person. That seems like an immediately fired sort of situation to me.

So, if you clearly don't mind being fired....why not get a job somewhere else before that inevitably happens?
