Hello, I'm new to this forum and also new to knives in general. What are some good small knives? I.E. The Spyderco bug, and the S.O.G. Micron.

What size range do you consider small? And what is your price range? THere are just so many out there.

I carried a 2 blade Boker pen knife as my EDC for over a year. Still have it, just don't carry it as often. There was very little it couldn't do in my daily tasks. Not sure if it's 1095 or 1075. Either way, it holds an edge fairly well, isn't too hard to resharpen and is pretty tough for such a little booger. Mine has delrin scales but there are nicer looking options. Even it is over 4" when opened. Case makes a tiny trapper that might come in under 4". I like the old timey look but it's hard to go wrong with a SAK Classic.

Slightly larger then you mentioned, but the smallest folder I own.

Kershaw Zing.

Great little knife, inexpensive, and you can barely notice it in your pocket!

Vic Midnite MiniChamp or variations, Spyderco Honeybee, Grasshopper or Ladybug (although the Ladybug and Grasshopper are a touch over 4'' opened).

Check out the Kershaw Chive. Its the size you want, affordable, very well designed, and insanely sharp right out of the box. It also comes in a variety of finishes and steels. It is assisted open though, some people don't care for that. I think its a great feature. (And if you get the rainbow model, girls will always want to check it out when you use it. Great ice breaker!)

It's opened length is over 4", but I've always thought the Spyderco LadyBug is an excellent small folder, especially considering blade steel & price. I believe they're 2.5" closed with a just under 2" blade in VG-10 or H1 (Salt version). Plus they're very light (I think .6 oz).

Judging by the knives you mentioned the Gerber Ripstop 1 is a good small knife. I got one for $15 at a Target store and it is a useful little knife.
