Check out Byrd's lineup. The Crow, Finch, Robin, and Raven are all pretty small, well made, and inexpensive to boot.
 
A budget option is the Kershaw OD-2.

~4" open, really inexpensive, fantastic opening speed (without any finicky AO mechanisms), and it's quite capable.

I find that because of the small size and light weight (1.6 oz. IIRC) it just disappears in a pocket, but when open, is still large enough to do most tasks, and courtesy of the full liners, feels solid when doing them.

Only downsides are is the mediocre (burrs on the inside of the clip screw mounts) machining quality on the FRN scales, and the blade steel (not that it is much worse than VG-10, IMO). So nothing major.

I would definitely buy another, especially at less than $15!
