Small Sebenza "Sans Clip"

No clips for me. I find that the non-slippery surface of the small regular Sebenza does not tend to slide around, or out, of my pocket. It also seems that the clip isn't "simpatico" with the lanyard. It is one or the other, and I chose the lanyard. I also removed the clip from my Mnandi the first day I got it.

I've been carrying it loose in the pocket for several days and it works well and feels right. I haven't taken the clip off yet as it seems like it works well to prevent overtravel on the lock bar.

Clip, always.
Easy to quickly get to and I've found that for me I'm less likely to loose the knife.
Either way its a win cause its a CRK.

Sorry, (well, not entirely), to open up an older thread I just came across...but while I find the clip to be both excellent and unobtrusive on my large "regular" Sebenza, the small Insingo seems to feel better in the hand and much easier to open without the pocket clip which always seemed to be in the way while opening.

Didn't feel like removing the scale to install the lanyard so I just tied a Reeve coil knot on old school style. Gonna see how this works for a few days and then reevaluate.

Guess I may have to break down and consider one of those clip insert thingamajigs if I keep it this way.

I started out not using clips or lanyards. Then I got a William Henry that hand a clip and one that had a clip case/lanyard. I found I like both clips and lanyards. Now I leave the clips on CRKs and leave the lanyards on as well. Could change again but for now always a clip for me.

I choose clipless on this small 21 Plain Jane:

CRK chose clipless for me on my small P Seb!

I don't usually clip it to my pocket, I made a monkey fist lanyard that makes it easy to retrieve from my pocket bottom and when I take off the clip I have an ivory plug I made from a an ivory piano key laminate that fits the right in where the
plug is, it changes the aesthetics of the knife, I have a few pieces I'd love to giveaway, so all ya need is a sand paper, files, or a Dremmel be best email or pm me I send ya piece to mess with.

I have been carrying my Large Sebenza without a pocket clip for a few days (removed it because I got snagged on something and bent it). I use a CRK calfskin pouch for it, but have been thinking about just putting it in the pocket loose, take up less space in my pocket.

I always use my thumb to prevent overtravel when closing the knife

I prefer clips, but some of my smaller knives are clip-less, and those i carry in my Levi's watch pocket. Clips give me the versatility to move a knife to various pockets, and to access them easily. I never use the leather pouches, just another layer between me and my knife.

I take the clips of all of my knives. It just takes away from the grip that want on the handle. Personal preference.

Small knives go in my front right pocket. Larger ones go in my coat , vest or back pockets.

I have 3 variants of small Sebs now, and I remove the clips from all of them and plug the recess with a matching insert. They go into my right hand pocket with no sheath.

Here's some pics of my small 21 with my homemade ivory plug made from a an ivory piano key veneer.

In general, I prefer clips, not because I clip them to anything but because I like the grip enhancement (YMMV). However, one of my favorite Sebenzas is a small LV inlay Classic XX that is clipless. With the inlays, I don't feel like I need the clip for traction and it definitely makes a better pocket carry that way.

Just read the post from DRK who lost his small Seb at a car wash. Sorry for your loss and I sincerely hope you
find it.
This is exactly why both my large and small Sebenzas are carried in either a CRK belt or pocket sheath. I have
installed the Clip Insert of both and they fit perfectly. My Mnandi rides in a leather sheath from AG Russell that
seems to have been designed with that particular knife in mind.
These days I won't buy any brand of knife if the clip cannot be removed. Just to risky to carry a quality knife
that way.

The only time I can recall a problem with the clip on my large regular was some years back when I was out on a surveillance / arrest and the seat belt caught it and flung it out the door as I exited the vehicle. (Needless to say, I was more careful in the future.)

That said, the small Insingo rides in my right front pocket and I am awaiting the clip insert which should be here either today or later this week.

Carrera- do you mind PM'ing me and telling me which sheath you use for your Mnandi from AG Russell if you don't mind. Thank you.

BTW, this is my solution to losing my knife to pocket holes (or creating them) and keeping the knife upright in my front pocket:

A simple solution I suggested to Ron Ryder (Cutters & Collectors) some years ago...it works great for the small Sebenza as well as my slipjoints.
Essentially it's just a flat leather "pocket protector" based upon the plastic shirt pocket solution which nerds everywhere have been using for decades. ;)

The bonus is that it makes the knife super easy to retrieve and replace as compared to other leather pouches.
