• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

smelting

Yes, would be cool if you could bring photography gear..Its a smelting, hands on forging demo. Not sure if you are up to swinging a hammer yet.

after doing a bit more research and finding that most steels melt at around 1800c i think i am still going to buy the tiny torch but ill use it to assist in the building of my forge. thanks for the info and the cool thermite smelting pick

I have the whole process on a slide show from start to finish. Aluminum is the fuel and it barrows an O2 molecule from the iron oxide. About 75% of the iron gets burnt in the process. Since then I have learned how to slow the process down and not loose quite as much iron. It is still a long ways from becomming a predictable and consistant way to make iron. But the learning process is very facinating and with each charge I am taking notes and getting better results.
