Obviously it will take a little while for the other front leg to build up but then he'll be back in action. I've been through a similar problem. Unlike humans, he's not likely to despair about his troubles. You're doing good so far, I hope he's over the worst of it.
I used to come across a guy who walked his old German shepherd in Central Park. The dog's hindquarters were paralyzed, so he made a small cart for him to sit in, and as he walked with his front legs, the rear just wheeled along after.
