Thank you all so very much. Seeing him pass relatively quickly and peacefully is a blessing. Having him at home and piling on the bed beside him was something that just could not be done at a hospital. It was a peaceful and good way to die. His two crowning achievements (my wife and her brother) at each side and ever being the protector he waited until his wife was out of the room before he slipped away. Poetic and Honorable.
Things are OK. We will remember Mike with a "Resurrection Celebration" this Friday. Then, being the Irish guy that he was, we will have a huge wake for him at the club house in their neighborhood. He left me $500 just for liquor and booking expenses It will be a grand send off with a few tears, many laughs, and special single malt Scotch and old vine Zin toasting his honor.
Once again, thank you all so very much. You thoughts, smoke, and prayers have given me strength. Dad is at peace and so is the rest of the family. We are blessed, and so grateful for your kindness.
