I've read say that ivermectin isn't effective for fleas and ticks , Our dog gets spinosad tablets, though I'm still not really comfortable with the concept of the dog eating the pesticide so that it gets in its blood, sort of poisoning the host in order to kill the parasite.

Oops I meant heartworms not flee and tick. Down south here its almost mandatory. Sketters will kill your dogs quicker than a mild systemic poisoning.

Thanks again for the love guys!

Ndog, I could definitely buy the Ivermectin myself and administer at home, but then I'd have to deal with needles, and poking my snakes. You're correct that the dosage is by weight, but you gotta do it between the scales and in a certain area of the body, otherwise it won't be effective. I'd rather just pay the 10 bones and have a nice chat with my vet. I like to teach him about what I do with the bioactive vivariums, since that was all new territory for him. Plus some of the other staff doesn't have much experience with snakes, and what can I say, I like to show off my babies :)

Steve, I'm right there with ya. Injecting poison into my snakes was extremely nerve racking, and I hate every second of it. Heck I even hate the thought of it. I wake up every day now and check to make sure they're ALIVE, much less see how the mites are doing. But so far they're all kickin and the mites seem to be going away, so I guess it's worth it in the end.
