Smoky Mountain Knife Works

My wallet just jumped out of my pocket and ran for the state line. I've bought online from there, got a Hogue Exploit for $191.

I remember my neighbor got the catalog and we would look through the whole thing. I really wanted one of those Gil Hibben fantasy knives. Lol.

Thankfully, I live 9+ hours from there. 603 miles according to Google maps.

Yeah buddy, SMK.is about 2& 1/2 hour drive for me. You could literally spend all day in there..
Of course Buds Guns across from it lol..

We just bought a turn key holiday house in one of the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area resorts. Love that area.

If anyone is looking to rent in the area...let me know. I will make a bladeforums discount code. If this is inappropriate please delete.

Congratulations! And, thank you!
I'll certainly take ya up on that.
I'll be in touch..

My wife and I find a way to get there every few years. Sometimes on the way to somewhere else, sometimes to Gatlinburg, and at least once or twice just to go to SMKW. We live about 600 miles away. :)

My wife and I looked at buying a townhome in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge at one point. But ultimately we opted not to do it. Probably a mistake as we both love the area. Prices have gone up considerably since then. We enjoy the touristy nature of the area but I have grown to really dislike the traffic in Pigeon Forge during the summer months.

I inherited my parents place which is about 85 miles from SMKW. I've been over there around 4 times in the last 3 years. Definitely worth a visit for knife enthusiasts. The staff is always friendly and tends to be knowledgeable. Its a little bit of a maze though. I got lost trying to find my way back to the main floor from the rest room :p

They have a great selection of kitchen knives and utensils also.

The last time I was there I was told that if something was on sale on their website, they would honor the price for in person sales. They didn't use to do this and I didn't try it out, but it might be worth mentioning.

I've been wanting to visit the store for some time. My parents retired over by the Cookeville area but they always travel up to MI to visit my family and my sisters family since we are only 10 miles apart. I rarely go to TN anymore. One day I'll make it down there.

I am taking a trip this weekend to Pigeon Forge area and now I find out I could get a discount on a stay and I was wondering how close it was to SMKW if I can convince another I might can make the detour.

Pigeon Forge is probably 10-15 minutes from SMKW, depending on traffic. I live in East Tennessee and have been there dozens of times.

Traffic can be discouraging in Pigeon Forge. North of there to I-40 has improved since they have completed the widening highway projects, but in Pigeon Forge it is still trying at times. I wish they had a reasonable bypass around Pigeon Forge but I know businesses don't like that kind of thing as they depend on traffic. It gets real busy during the high park visit times. I was in the Park yesterday, but didn't make the Rough Ryder store visit.

I love going there, I’m like a little kid in a candy store. I only live a couple hours from Sevierville, Tn, so we try to visit at least a couple times a year.

Let's hope it is sooner rather than later. TN is a nice place.

I’ve bought 4 or 5 knives from them and it was the most horrible buying experience in my life. Every time when they printed my shipping label part of my address would be cut off. I called them and they blamed it on PayPal. Out of the 100’s of knives I’ve bought elsewhere it’s never happened over all my years from any other dealer. I tried one last time even though I feared the same result and even noted to please ship to the correct address and explained the shipping label issue again about there shipping label cutting off part of my address and I used a credit card instead of PayPal and the same thing happened . I’ve spent hours of my life I’ll never get back with the post office to try and get my shipments.
I will never ever buy from them again even if it was diamonds at silver prices.
Others milage may vary but they are the worst dealer I’ve ever bought from in many years.
I use there catalogs they keep sending me for kindle wood.
Did I mention I will never buy from them again ever in this life time ?
On a bonus side note they’ve never returned a single reply to any of my emails concerning the issue. There Customer service/communication is also Unacceptable and I think there hopscotch unorganized store front is a reflection of there customer service in a whole.

Really? Oof. Sorry you had some many problems with them. I've never bought from them myself.

I'll still visit the store if I can. It's just nice to see knives in person and handle them to see if they fit my big paw.
