Smoky Mountain Knifeworks Catalog....

I was in there a couple days ago. Not only does the catalog suck. The store is starting to suck as well. Don't get me wrong.... they still have the good stuff, but that store is 75% crap. I knew it was going wrong when they started selling shark teeth and African antiques downstairs.

Just got mine yesterday, it's in the downstairs John and I haven't looked past the first 4 pages.

I guess maybe I shouldn't bother, well maybe I'll just look at the Case knives, hopefully there are a couple of CV models. :)

While I still eagerly look for the catalogs I am not excited about the selection like I used to be. Can't disagree with what has already been said especially the comparison to BudK. I still hope to find a deal now and then but I've ordered less and less from them as time goes by. Have had great customer service also. Recently got a gift certificate to SMKW from a neighbor that knows I've ordered there in the past and am leaning toward a Buck or Gerber fixed blade right now.

Bought my first ESEE at SMKW last weekend. I aske this little ole lady if she knew where I could find any of the "RAT" knives? (I hadn't known the name changed) She said better then that young man, I can introduce you to one of the owners. Bought my Izula from Mike, brought it home, wrapped the handle with the 550 cord, cut my knuckle, and now I am getting ready to order ESEE-5. I will continue to go to SMKW, can't say much about their catalog though.

I don't have any experience with them, so I cannot make any comments on doing business with them. I have only gotten their catalogs for the last few years. I will say, the last one I got was a huge waste of paper IMO.
I first started leafing through it in the john, and it didn't take long to go through it and realize that a bigger portion of the stuff in it was junk, at least in my mind. Irregardless of where the stuff was made. Maybe its just me being narrow minded.

I'm no marketing genius, but I figured there must be a big enough market for most of the stuff, to warrant the expense of sending them out.
Maybe not, I don't know...
