Smoothest Spyderco

Smoothest one I currently own is a Double Bevel. Unbelievable action. I got a pure cherry with this one.

It's so hard to get many knives to remain glassy smooth, but have no vertical or lateral blade play. Such a finer line.
But this Double Bevel is super tight, and the blade glides just right.

BBS Elmax Paramilitary 2 is another of my standouts.
As well as the 204p exclusive Domino.
And the Sprint Sage 3.

Many of my Spydercos are so smooth its hard to recall the smoothest. My Bradley 1 is certainly in the running for top spot. Also my Southard and at least one of my PM2 s and one of my Militarys. The f and f on many of my Spydercos is really excellent.I think the Bradley comes very close to my Sebenza in smoothness and finish.

My definitive Spyderco moment occurred when I received my cammo pm2, looked at the centering "dead on" flicked it open and said to myself with a big ol' smile "that's what there talking about".

My obvious vote pm2.

My GB1 is very smooth but I like the action on my Yojimbo a bit better.
It is very silky.

Yeah, my yojimbo also had amazing action. That big heavy blade swings open like it's being pulled by a magnet too!

Yes, the Yojimbo swings so nicely and gives such a satisfying clack upon lockup.
I'm pretty sure it all has to do with such little wind resistance with such a pointy tip.

Another vote for the sage 3.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys.

The general consensus on smoothness seems to favor the Taichung models.

I'm not surprised, since this is my experience, too. My GB1, Sages, Chaparral, and Domino are all pretty darn smooth.

I always shake my head and chuckle when someone on the forum disses Spyderco's Taichung lineup for being "kinda Chinese" or some such. They're missing out, IMO.

^^more Taiwanese spidies for the rest of us!!^^

I'd grab one of each if I could afford them.

Nilakka is my smoothest right now with a Persistence a surprise #2. We'll see how the GB2 stacks up when it arrives this week

Oh yeah, the Nilakka for sure.

GB Air is another one, but maybe that's just because it flies open so easily with a very weak detent.

The smoothest Spydie I own is my fluted Ti Millie followed closely by the Slysz Bowie and Techno.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Personally, I don't like blades that are so smooth that they free drop, which I think puts me in the minority. I really like a knife blade to move when I move it and stay put when I don't.

I feel like there's a difference between being smooth and being...I'm not sure how to put it. Free of resistance?

For example, my pm2 free drops with zero play and great lock up. That's one level of smoothness. However, my slysz bowie is craaazy smooth, but it doesn't free drop when I move the lock bar over.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? I guess I'm less of a knife flicker and that I more enjoy the smooth, slow and intentional opening methods.

I'm not really sure if I'm making sense...just my two cents!
