My good friend Marty Simon always carries a small flask of "snake bite" medicine with him on the trips we take. While we all know alcohol is not the best thing to drink to keep you warm, if used responsibly, it is a nice way to relax around the fire. When he takes out the medicine, I'm always glad he thought to bring it. There is just something about spirits in the woods.

That being said...

What is your favorite snake bite medicine and how do you carry it?

For me, the smoothest drink I've found so far is Wild Turkey Honey. I have a small, I mean real small, Klean Kanteen (12 oz pony model) that I'm going to start using for this purpose. Anyone else use the small Klean Kanteen for this use?

I like Glenlivet. You can sip it warm or cold. Straight or with a little water. I have one of those hip pocket flasks that Nalgene makes.

i carry george dickel in one of thos large poly flasks, mix it with instant cider mix for a great around the fire drink. works well in a spike camp in the bighorns when the snow is blowing and the elk are bugling.

I'm a Glenlivet drinker also. That and Macallan are my two favorites. I have a couple of new bottles of Brandy to try out due to seeing how popular it was in my similar thread. I'm trying out a couple of X.O.'s, one apple and one mix.

Laphroiag cask strength.
Nothing warms better.

I have a ss flask that leaves a metalic taste.Nasty, I cant stand it. I bought a half pint of Canadian Mist. It comes in a plastic bottle. I just fill it up now. Canadian Mist is the best cheap whiskey Ive tried.

Jim Beam, Black label in a stainless flask. Unless its deer camp, then usually some Jagermiester :)

I love Jim Beam black label. A year ago it could be bought for seventeen dollars a bottle. I checked yesterday . It was twentytwo bucks.

Its about time someone stuck up for the cheap stuff :p.

I actually prefer Crown Royal when at home but the Canadian Mist stuff is about as close as I've found to Crown Royal. The plastic pints and half pints work well.

Makers Mark.
It's somewhat sweet. I put it on pancakes once ! SS flask.
+1:thumbup: 'cept for the pancake part - haven't tried that yet

I like a little nip of scotch. Some great choices mentioned above. I usually have Glenlivet on hand as my sipping scotch, but Laphroaig is a treat among others. Today we have a bit of Talisker on hand.

My mode of carry depends on where I'm going and what I'm doing. If weight is a concern then I will use a Nalgene flask....if it's not then I use the one pictured. The bottle next to it is my current favorite.

I like a good single malt, like the pictured Macallan. For a dessert drink, something sweet like Yukon Jack.

I've got metal flasks but for the trail, the small Platypus is the lightest way to go.

any whiskey or bourbon or rum, i'm not picky.

for a woods flask i just use a 375 Ml plastic "flask", the one from the liqour store that the booze comes in! They are very tough, and come with booze already in them :)

BlackHills, thats a beautiful flask.

here is my "medicine": ;)

I've always wanted a Snow Peak Titanium flask. If I drank something other than good beer, I'd have an excuse to buy one. Doesn't hold enough beer to be very effective, except maybe a good Barleywine.
