"Snake bite" Medicine and Flasks?

Here is to good old deer camp white trash on the Eastern Shore and Western Mountains of Maryland, Mr. Boston Blackberry Brandy. My Dad would occasionally let me get a single snootfull as he called it, mixed in with black coffee, sitting around the fire...

BlackHills, thats a beautiful flask.

Thanks. I like that it comes with two shot glasses that fit in the cover for the screw top; you can see one on the stump and the other is still in the snap on top. It was made by Macallan.

I've always wanted a Snow Peak Titanium flask. If I drank something other than good beer, I'd have an excuse to buy one. Doesn't hold enough beer to be very effective, except maybe a good Barleywine.

Didnt know there was such a thing.... I need to look into that!!

Whew those are pricey!! very cool though. I want one, maybe for the anniversary if I drop enough hints!!

Johnny Walker for me. Sometimes I put it in an OD green, plastic GI hip flask (I think it is supposed to be a water flask for pilots' flight suit pockets).

Knob Creek (sharp bite but good)
Bookers (very strong/coarse unfiltered)
Basil Haydens (nice smooth sipping whiskey-my current favorite)

Well, snakebite, of course! 1/4 - 1/3 Rose's lime juice, the rest Yukon Jack. The more Rose's, the more "bite"

Whatever whisky is on sale, pack a 1 or 2 liter platypus full and mix it into small containers with a bit of water and a powdered drink mix as you need it. (berry type flavors are the best). I rarely buy the good stuff anymore, so mixing various drink mix flavors with the cheap stuff sometimes makes it enjoyable. ;)

:D

i too am a big fan of Yukon Jack for those hoary nights in the Colorado Rockies. Only i have mine straight, right out of my SS flask. at some point i plan on engraving it.

i also recentlytried Yukon Jack Permafrost, VERY nice!

Hey Don, did you ever bring back some memories. There used to be a Blackberry Brandy Liqueur made by McGuinnes, IIRC. Man, was that stuff good. One of my buddies used to say, "if it's a bitch of a portage, one good shot of that Blackberry and I'll fly across." It was almost as powerful as jet fuel.

Alas, they stopped making it. I have tried other brands, but nothing close. Oh well.

Actually, this thread almost makes me puke.:barf: How do you guys drink that rot gut, Scotch? :barf: That stuff's only good for removing tar from your hub caps. My dad was from Wishaw, Scotland, and because of that, always had a bottle or two in the cupboard. It was the only thing safe from yours truly.

My choice? Wiser's 12 year old Deluxe and a buddy bottle of Bailey's. :D
