Snake Season Starts Tomorow!

I just came home from florida a week ago, if i knew about this i may have stayed a little longer. My little dog would have made great bait.
there will be absolutely NO using my sweet little dog as snake bait.

Those Reticluated pythons are bad news down there. Curse every irresponsible "pet" owner for letting them loose.

They really need to have an open season all year long on invasive species. Seems like that should be just smart thinking.

Aren't there some Anaconda's rolling down there too? Big suckers!

Make sure you don't go alone. You need some one else to free you if they wrap you up!

Guns and knives!

I might want a longer sword too!

Then I could go all Conan on them with my Dragon's Fang! (if I had one).

I have a green anaconda.....hush your mouth!:p

Not really much on hunting, been more of a high volume shooter, but python hunting I could really get into.

Crows, gators, and pythons :D

Can't wait to see pics of them

I could use some new boots. I'll bet some thermal imaging would work good. Kinda reminds me of hunting Graboids. :D

"No tracks, no sign, no spoor... you'd think after eating all those sheep they'd have to take a dump some place"

I had a Burmese python about ten years ago it was six feet when my buddy decided it was too big for him to handle it was almost fourteen when it bite me on the hand and tried to wrap around me while I was cleaning its cage. Those boots just wore out last year. Big Burmese are VERY fast. As well as hard to see especially in an environment like the Everglades. I wouldn't dream of inviting myself but......like my two year old son says " I wanna go too!"

Sure we could use a Recon Marine to help track those suckers!

Semper Fi,

Gus

I am all for the removal of these pythons from the everglades, being a python breeder (as a hobby) it does hit a bit close to home, however, I do understand the concerns an invasive species brings up. It is more or less the same story with the wild hogs, It wouldn't be fair for me to tag along on one bandwagon and not the other. On any note I am interested in seeing how many of these pythons actually get caught. I have lived minutes from the everglades my whole life and have never seen a single python in the wild. Some people believe the bull kaka animal planet puts out and think that pythons are roaming south Floridas every corner, I can tell you from personal experience that that is not the case. These animals are very stealthy and dont need to travel as often as mammals do. Anyway I hope that this puts a big dent on their population and keeps the native species from becoming affected.

They actually just had a story on the local news here in Ohio about Florida snake season. For the most part it was a fair story (which can be rare around here). They highlighted the damage that these snakes can do to the native species and the ecosystem. Of course there was one guy who wanted to give the snakes a hug. Maybe he will head down and they can hug him back.

Good luck to everyone who heads out. Would really be cool to have a sheath made from a snake that you bagged yourself.

11 were killed in the first three days. Not enough to put a dent in them, but its more than I expected.
They are nocturnal, very camouflaged, and hide very well.
Like other animals, and plants that have gotten out of control in FL there is no stopping them now.

Burmese python?
I think you have a bigger headache:

Either one of the pythons got horny and made babies with the other populations of Florida might be on the brink.

:eek::eek: Are you serious!??!?! Florida?!?!?! Wow, guess where I am never going again? lol:eek::eek::eek:

Don't worry Pokey, I am sure you won't run into a python. Unless you see I guy walking with one around his neck in South Beach, or you are planning to spend the night in the Everglades;)

Only 11? Not even a dent in the population.

Let's hope that the hunters get smarter/better with time.

I have seen deer hide in a harvested corn field. I can't imagine how hard it is to find these things in the Everglades. Not like you are going to hear them walking past you.
