I've been hearing bits of this on the radio since this morning... what can you even say?

Nope. I've been reading through the public responses, and half the people seem to jump right to "we need gun control." Too late, people. Can't put the genie back in the bottle. I'm of the opinion that the best thing we can do, is raise our kids to be moral, responsible, and caring people, who won't even feel the inclination to shoot people. Although, some people are just messed up inside. What I want to know is how a sociopath like this guy doesn't get spotted early on.

people don't tend to like to associate with sociopaths nor they with other people, and they unfortunately go unnoticed or ignored until something like this happens.
 
Vigilance is its own reward, I guess.

Side note, I also hate those people who think that all responsible gun owners are conservatives, and that all liberals are anti-constitutional. Both sides need to step back, stop typecasting people into "the other side," and come together to protect our loved ones.

Right on :thumbup: but before we jump off the political cliff here, I'd like to point out that if this guy was from NJ and transported a firearm in state and did not make a clear course of travel to a legal destination (i.e. a range or land on which to hunt for which he would need all necessary paperwork) he would have already committed a felony regardless of his heinous acts he went to commit. So any claims that he was an otherwise law abiding gun owner would be false. My point being is evidently, even when you have such strict gun restriction as you do in NJ (the strictest in the nation with the possible exception of California) it still does nothing to prevent this kind of insanity.
 
My prayers go out to all, I don't have the answer for why this kind of thing is happening more and more, but I hope a REAL solution is found and implemented.

I have never felt so happy to see my 6 year old get off the bus today, I cannot imagine something like this happening.... very sad

As a father, I cannot imagine what the victims families are going through right now.
My prayers will be with them.
To have the ones you love most, taken in such a senseless act...it's unimaginable, and it breaks my heart.
 
Heavy heart today for sure. I can't imagine what the families of the victims and all the surviving kids will be going through for a long time to come.

Good to see you back on OLJ. I'm sure it will be nice to get back to living and things being somewhat normal again.

Fully agree on all counts. I'm just venting because on the gun forum I frequent, they're all up in arms against everyone who doesn't vote their way, and just saying that all liberals are anti-gun. That strikes me as exactly the same kind of idiocy as saying that gun control will somehow fix it. I don't see my point as being political. Quite the reverse, really. If forums are non-political, I wish they'd get rid of posts talking about how all liberals are out to ban guns, knives, etc. Those somehow seem to fly under the mods radar, however. Strikes me that all decent people think that killing kids is a new level of evil, and that people on both sides of party lines enjoy firearms and use them responsibly. No sense making even more divisions for our country in this time of tragedy.

I wonder if there's a charity that will be set up to help the families of the victims. If so, I'd like to raffle my BK4 and donate all proceeds to the cause...
 
Well in my search for the best EDC I got one of these. I think its going to be the solution for a small blade with a real handle. Made some leather for it now will test it out.

Yeah its a 311 blade is almost the same as an 11/14 but a tad thicker.
 
Cool. Nice blade for sure. I've considered getting one, but wasn't sure if I would like how thick it is.
 
It isnt super thick just a tad thicker than the 14 and its a high sabre instead of full flat.
 
I might have to see if I can check one out sometime.

Just ordered a new heater core for my car. Cheapest I could find is $115. Kinda ridiculous, but I need some heat in the car, so I kinda had to order it.

call them up, and tell them you're willing to pay it, pre-court/etc and just get it done. the judge will thank you.

you will insist on: no penalties, fees, or interest if they do this, else you will suggest that you will fight it, and they might lose;etc. regardless, you won't also have to pay legal fees.
